Cali's new rules ban camping overnight, hotel stays, and cardrooms among other things.  Starts on Saturday.

Here is a link to the LA TIMES article where you can ponder such questions as: which Saturday? Is it statewide? Can I play solitaire in my RV if I am parking stealth?  Local socal dwellers on here have said that stealth parking has been allowed so far in their area.

It is best to go to the official California government websites to read any regulations regarding restrictions. For instance this new Order that took place on December 3rd is only in effect in regions of the state where the ICU, intensive care unit, capacity drops below 15%.  That oder has not banned camping STATEWIDE or travel through the state or staying in motels other than specific regions of the state. with an insufficiency of ICU capacity. The official CA website has a map showing where, if any, such areas have that ban currently in effect. Regions may go in and out of restrictions so you will need to check andvrecheck the state maps that show restrictions if you are going to be in California. News reports often make things seem worse than they are due to the need for drama to sell strories. Always double check facts with the original source and read slowly and carefully instead of skimming through information to see if it effects your movements regarding travel, shopping, camping, quarantine needs, medical care facilities, testing etc.

Edit: have to agree with Maki even watching local news reports what they are saying sounds far worse than the reality plus the impossibility of enforcing 10 million people to comply when they have defunded law enforcement (including closing stations and patrols) who have far more serious crimes to deal with.

I don’t know about other states or NorCal but in SoCal
it’s nothing to do with the rules but whether or not they are enforced. The LA County Health Dept has a website that lists which businesses have been fined for non-compliance which includes some large gym chains and the Courtyard Hotel chain which is a big one here.

On the one hand locals called the sheriff because someone refused to wear a mask at a local Trader Joe’s On the other hand as I already posted they are not bothering vans, cars, buses and RV camped in commercial parking lots and some small local businesses were starting to open again.

As of today we are tightly locked down again and stores which were allowing 35% capacity are now down to 20%. I highly doubt they will bother RVs for reasons I posted about before but you will face hour long lines for basic necessities now.

I agree. You might want to call ahead to your destination before travelling.

This 55+ RV park (southern AZ) went on "lockdown" last night but is still accepting winter visitors. This RV park plans to get us testing, and requires a stay at home period if there is a positive test.

Facilities and buildings have been closed, restaurant now take out only. Outside recreation for individuals is still open, as is the laundromat.  -crofter

@eDJ on garlic
I was thinking of the heart protective properties of garlic. I have seen garlic supplements, but why not just eat it when it tasts so good?

Interesting, your article states clot busting and protective against strokes, good to know.

I have also noticed that fresh garlic warms me up (just ate some). Is there a metabolic effect of garlic?

From what you are writing, sounds like the enforcement is going against the businesses and not the individuals. Could be why we are seeing the doormen and bouncers out front of businesses like hardware stores etc.

In this southern AZ tourist town we are all dedicated to making money and keeping the doors of business open. Here we have notices on every business door about wearing the mask, social distancing, and capacity of the building.

Although quite serious about staying open by following the CDC guidelines, this southern AZ county has adopted a policy regarding this pandemic of educate rather than enforce. The first pandemic arrest here would not have gone down if the person hadn't also scuffled with the officer.  -crofter

I dried some sliced sausage all the way down to chips. They are good but a little salty, should last forever.

eDJ:  Great list!  Be aware that ginger, in particular, has blood-thinning properties which, while generally beneficial, may be problematic for those taking blood thinners (aspirin, included).

They all state lowering BP but do not warn about thinning the blood. Thanks for that caution, vanfan. I also read in one rather technical science article that ginger is anticancer.  -crofter
I eat the gummies from gingerpeople, about one per day and have not died of anything yet. Kind of expensive, they are my treat.  -crofter
