I would put neosporin on the cat scratches if they are bad, or use peroxide rinse on them. Since cat claws go in deep, you have to keep the wound draining and let it heal from the inside out.  ~c

Here is the latest from CDC on more about covid 19 germs in your house. Nice that smaller living spaces are less trouble to clean and the disinfectant wipes are now available at the store. Don't forget to wipe the steering wheel.

Next project is on to cookies! It is so worth it to have an oven, altho I have heard of cookies in the microwave oven, and have made brownies on the stove top when camping.

Yesterday I made turkey broth and it is thick and awesome. The long cooking time for broth seems like a waste of energy till you taste it. Nothing like home made, and for me a thick broth acts like a tonic. All that nutrition.  I should save it for soup but I cant, it is disappearing fast.

I packed the turkey breast with pork fat for tenderness and taste. Now I am recycling the cooked pork fat into my blackeye peas for more flavor.

I am into my winter routine of hot drinks, fleece, wool sox, and insulated vests. Wearing a hat is good too but right now I can't find any but my designated van hat and I like to leave it in there unless it is actually snowing. Organization is always the bane of the dweller. My goal is to find my winter gear sometime this month. (wearing my designated van hat anyway, now I'm warm).   ~crofter

Pic of designated van hat fleece lined, mine is turquoise and brown with the elmer fudd brim. These are a good deal at less than $10.

Looking at these as a possible upgrade to what Im doing now to check my vital signs:
link to review of smart phone monitors
https://medicalfuturist.com/lets-put-the-best-to-the-test-our-kardiamobile6l-review/

Currently I carry a pulse Oximiter with cardio display and a recording Blood Pressure monitor, which I can make a written record of. When I am really low I don't do it and that is just when I need to.

Pondering if the smart phone device would be just one more gadget, or actually useful. Does anyone have experience with these?  -crofter

This is a nifty item... I've wanted for a while but at a 1000 bux....ehmm

It's cool you can check if fuel is watered down if u got fake pills... Even check if all those cheesecakes are clinging to our bones..

Hmm there used to be a more regular consumer device available.... Looks like the website b is geared more towards business now.

Says it can check freshness and find ecoli, I wonder if it can detect mold spores, chemical contamination, or radiation?    -crofter

Not sure about radiation... But I bet it will pick up chemical adulteration.. And composition... Give readings on water... Sure it would sense the mold spores.. wood decay also?... Fake metal.

Find out mcdonald's isn't serving real beef??

I am thinking about the campsite. There are places where hot yellow rock is at the surface of the ground, and might not want to camp there. There was no FAQ on their site so will have to check this out. Good find!

This summer felt hotter and drier to me. Now I know why: in Yuma county the monsoon season from mid June to end of September had zero rainfall (driest of all time) and an average temperature of 94 degrees, with 43 days that the temp was 110 degrees or above.

Two other years were hotter: 1994 monsoon season averaged 94.6 degrees and 2015 monsoon season averaged 94.4 degrees.

But Im not complaining, this summer was even hotter in Phoenix and other desert locales. Currently 73 degrees and breezy in southern AZ.   -crofter

I'm jealous in Cochise Co.

Only 48 for a high today.

That extra 3500' in elevation does make a difference.

Winter is here for sure. The complete lack of precip surprises me and IDK how the native plants are surviving for so long without water.  -crofter

Mid 40s in Bullfrog Utah teens and low 20s at night, but the fishing is getting better! Time to pull out the insulated coveralls and sweaters! Night fishing is gonna get cold.

Neat thing about Arizona’s fishing license is it is valid on all of Lake Powell even the parts in Utah!

In a boat or on shore in Utah?

Most states give a geezer discount at age 65 on licenses. In AZ you have to be 70 and a resident for 25 years before you get a break.

Both! As long as it is Lake Powell. I figured, even though it was a slow year, it cost a few pennies a fish. My Arizona resident license was less than $40 and I caught close to 1,000 fish as there is no limit on striped bass and walleye at Lake Powell. Check out the fishing on wayne’swords.com. Plenty of picture proof as many fish for food as well as sport.

I sure do love to go fishing.... can't wait to go again.

Cali's new rules ban camping overnight, hotel stays, and cardrooms among other things.  Starts on Saturday.

Here is a link to the LA TIMES article where you can ponder such questions as: which Saturday? Is it statewide? Can I play solitaire in my RV if I am parking stealth?  Local socal dwellers on here have said that stealth parking has been allowed so far in their area.

Here is a link to the CA state site for more details. I would suggest calling ahead if you are planning a trip, to make sure they are still open.  -crofter

I'm late coming to this thread and haven't as yet read all of it, but l'll speak to Crofters OP concerning the D3 vitamin.

I understand that if you can get 15 minutes a day of sunshine on your skin that it will provide you with all of the D3 you need for the day.

There are health giving properties in Herbs & Spices if you know what to use when you cook.  Let me offer this resource.   Hope this benefits everyone.

That was interesting, eDJ.  But they do not include garlic, my fave. I will just have to eat garlic for pleasure and not for medicine.

I do have to warn you about this thread - it is random by design and we do not stay on the same topic for more than a few posts at any one time. Thanks for reading.   ~crofter
