    Roof leak

My roof just developed a small leak.  I'm pretty sure it's leaking around a screw or screws that are holding my solar panels down.   Can I just Dicor around those or do I need to replace the screws and recaulk it?  Thanks.

    Wire gauge calculation

I'm trying to decide on wire sizing.  Am I correct that in calculating wire run from panels to controller, I use the panel voltage?  Most online calculators only have an option for 12 or 24 volt.  I'm going to have 60 volts at the panels. Thanks.

    Solar to battery ratio

I recently purchased two Sams Club Gc2  Duracell golf cart batteries.  I'm charging them with 300 watts of solar that only gets a couple hours of peak sunlight - if that.  They are not enough to run my freezer.   I'm thinking of expanding.  I can get a good deal on two 250 watt panels.   So, one...

Anyone have any experience with this refrigerator?

    Help identifying wires, please

I have 3 white wires coming from the junction box under my camper.  They transition into a black wire that ends in a ring terminal.  I have no idea where this wire goes.  I don't know if it's a ground or positive, if it's trailer brakes, or what.  The previous owner has apparently engaged in...

    Wire gauge for frame ground?

What size wire should be used for frame ground on a small travel trailer?  Stock was 8 gauge, but I'll be running an air conditioner that pulls about 450 watts.  Should I upgrade the wire size? Thanks.

    Inverter placement

I'm redoing my system and I'd like to get my inverter closer to the batteries.  I have the Renogy 1,000 watt invrter, and I'd like to put it in the storage area under the bed, next to the batteries.  I understand this can be done with lithum batteries.  There is plenty of space, but very little...

Do wire gauges have to be uniform?

So, if you read my other thread, I'm in need of a new battery bank.  I have 3 100 ah batteries on order.  I'm wondering what size wire to use.  My old system used 1/0 wire.  I'm wondering if I should go a bit higher.  The inverter cables are about 6 feet long.  Those will be expensive to...

    6 volt battery uses?

I had one of my two 6 volt batteries stolen.  Now I'm left with one battery that I can't run my trailer off, and adding a new battery to a 5 year old battery is not a good idea.  So, I'm stuck with a useless $300 battery which is still in decent shape.  Is there anything I can do with one 6 volt...

    Narrow twin mattress?

I need a narrow twin (30x72-75) mattress, preferably memory foam.  Anyone know of a source?  All I've found on Amazon is the Zinus which is full of fiberglass, and I don't want to be breathing that stuff in. Thanks.

How long will a 20 pound propane tank last

...if used only to run a 1420 BTU/H refrigerator?  How many days can I expect to get out of a tank at say 70 degrees?  at 90?  My math says 430,520 btus in 4.7 gallons of propane divided by 1,420 =303 hours divided by 24 = 12.6 days.  But that all depends on a lot of variables, and is predicated...

    Phantom loads

My Trimetric battery monitor shows a constant 3.4 amp draw.  The only loads I cannot easily turn off are the clock on the radio and the co detector.  Plus whatever the Trimetric itself is drawing.  This should be nowhere near 3.4 amps.  I have disconnected power completely, and the monitor shows...

Anyone know the approximate duty cycle of an rv absorption fridge?  I'm trying to get an idea of how much electricity it uses.

    Propane tank sweating

The propane tank in my van is sweating when not in use.  I haven't used it in weeks and today I noticed it.  I'm in Alabama where the humidity never drops below 80%.  Is this normal?  I cannot find a leak.

Wire size for Renogy Rover 20

I am having trouble getting a solid connection with my Renogy charge controller.  I can't get a proper wire connection.  The wire fits in the cc, but I have no voltage.  Pressing a screwdriver in on the screw causes voltage to properly register for a moment, but it drops to zero when removed.  I...

    Matress for van

My van has one of those old roll over sofa beds.   It's not a jackknife, the back of the couch rolls all the way over.   It's pretty worn out and I can feel the metal supports on my back no matter which way I lie.  I need to make this more comfortable somehow and could use some advice.  I was...

    Removing armrests from captain's chairs

I need to remove the armrests in my van.  It's a 1995 F250 Econoline Coachmen conversion.  I know you are supposed to push in the armrests and rotate them beyond their normal operating range.  I have tried rotating them up and back and down and I cannot get these armrests to come off.  Anyone...

    Deka vs Trojan

The Sams Club Duracell AGM gc2s are currently $179 + tax, so about $392 for a pair..  I can get Trojan T-105 AGMs for $240, so, 480, out the door.  I'd like to spend as little as possible, but if the Trojans are just that much better, I'll bite the bullet and get those.  Which should I purchase...

I have a 7100 BTU AC unit that I would like to power with a generator.  I'm considering the new Honda EU2200.  Will it run my AC?

    12 volt socket interference

I have a 12 volt socket that buzzes and causes audio interference when I plug my tv into it.  The front socket in the cab works flawlessly.  Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Thanks.
