I received second vaccination a few weeks ago, so thankful!  My wife is scheduled to get her first vaccination on Tuesday since she is currently in chemo-land.

 s off to you and yours, happy valentines day.

By the sounds of it we are having live music and blowing sand. Must be tough going for the singer.

Have a great day anyway -crofter

That is a cool graphic on the birdwatching map, random. I can guarantee that quite a few doves are laying low due to the wind in southern AZ. Also hummers in the orange blossoms and on feeders. We have lost our nighthawks due to feral cats. Used to have no bugs, but without the nighthawks bugs are back.

Hello random painted highway. It is so good to find another birder among the nomads. I am stuck in a rehab facility for this year’s backyard count. Outside my window I have black vultures, turkey vultures, a lot of chimney swifts last evening and today our resident cattle egret was around. When I was at home in Pennsylvania I have more than 20 species because it was usually snowy during this and I have my feeders out. But I didn’t get skunked I got to see some birds and I’m still looking. As I say to all my birding friends - keep looking up!

I don’t know nature lover if having several vultures around you or where you are staying is such a good thing! Lol!!!

LOL :)

I'm not a birder but it's been interesting the last couple of days watching roadrunners gorge on these fat grubs that my landlord has unearthed.

He's been cleaning up a couple of piles of wood chip compost and found these ugly old grubs underneath.

A couple of roadrunners are chowing down bigtime.

Look what I found, for all my worried friends who like to eat! Link to Bob's video on food.

Scroll down to find the link to amazon for the food bucket.
Bob also gives links to his 19 startup classes.

I carry 4 of the smaller bins stacked, for anything dry, canned, or vacuum packed. I also carry some freeze dried meals in the back that are at least 20 years old. I don't save anything for emergencies, it would just go bad. But I do carry quite a bit. And have been known to stay out until the food is gone.

Another nice day in southern AZ, 65 degrees, low was mid 40s.

Big news is my church reopened, sort of, with no singing. Preach played the violin for us since we could not sing, and we used oodles of paper cups for the elements. Good to be back after closed for a year.

Well I'm off to fix some electronics, then going swimming.

Just worried a lot for my son. He is battling acute leukemia at age 49. But todaybhe was able to get the first dose of chemo. He was going to start 4 days ago but he had caught yet another infection and had to do a 3 day stay in the hospital to get it knocked out before chemo could begin. Receiving a blood transfusion during those 3 days gave him back some strength.

Hi, crofter. I've been curious as to whether your username is related to the Roycrofters here in East Aurora. Nice to meet you.

Thanks Bullfrog. He is having a rough time of it but hopefully the chemo will get rid of it.

Sorry about the kid Maki. Sure hope he doesn’t have a hard time of the chemo.

@maki
Healing thoughts and prayers for your son from us.

Cool with blowing sand in southern AZ, high today 68 degrees with a low last night of 51 degrees. No freezing temperatures this winter in the low desert.

Really low energy for me, I am trying HIIT (intense 10 minute workouts) to boost my metabolism, also continuing collagen supplements for joints and connective tissues while stopping expensive face cream (carcinogenic ingredients linked to breast cancer). Full stop on that.

Here are some links for you: Dr Axe products, about collagen, local shop, and Derma-E clean creams.

I also found that one of my fave DIY van builders is finally done. She says she spent 7 months and about 7 thousand dollars building out a $17k Promaster (payment is $300 monthly). So all in under $25k for a very nice build. Here is a link to the tour.

BTW, I started as Desert Crofter, but HDR made me change it so the readers would not confuse us. So the short form is "crofter" -c

Currently 85 degrees and sunny in southern AZ, the low was 46 degrees.

Completed stage one of testing the Alpicool 60T without added insulation. I will run another test once the insulation is in place to see if I can improve performance. Took 4 days to freeze liquids solid and 3 days without power to thaw the liquids all at 80 degrees ambient temperature.

Roycroft, the community was named after two brothers in the printing trade from England with that last name. The founder of the Roycroft community found them to be inspirational.

A croft is a small piece of arable land origin of the term often applied to land of that size found in Scotland . A crofter is the person who lives on that small landholding, usually in a cottage as the income from such a small piece of land would not be sufficient for a large dwelling.

But maybe some people from the Roycroft commu ity refer to themselves with the shkortened version of the name by calling themselves "Crofters" as it does sound a lot like crafters which was the trade of many of the original community members. Being a fan of yhe Arts and Craftsera products and philosophy I am well aware of the Roycroft Company and its ongoing product styles of furniture and accessories.
