Hey VanFan,

Two things I miss about the Buckeye:

1. Slush
2. Scraping ice off the windshield

NOT

Where maki2 mentions "vinegar", I think she means "white" vinegar.

My scheme (observation only, not a recommendation): I use white vinegar myself to wipe down dishes after cooking, as I don't actually use dish soap. I usually do 1-dish fry pan meals, cooked on the Coleman stove outside, and eaten from the fry pan. Then I wipe the remaining goo out of the fry pan really well, usually with a piece of bread (this step is extremely important). Then I boil water in the pan, which removes most of the remaining (small amount of) cooking oil, then wipe with white vinegar. Has worked fine over 12-months of use on the road.

Definetly white , ie, clear vinegar for cleaning task. Apple cider ot other vinegars that have color to them could  potentially leave stains on surfaces and fabrics.

Looks to be real noisy here this weekend. 3 days of  car races coming up.  I won't be here most of Saturday though as I am heading into the city on errands. Maybe I will seriously consider cutting some wood for drawers on Sunday and/or Monday since my noise would not even be noticed over the racing noises at the track.

I have been quiet so far today though, though, just doing packaging of kits while listening to an audio book. I will cut more kits later today.  the campground was pretty empty the last couple of days but now people are starting to pull into the spaces. Mostly bigger RVs arriving, lots of 5th wheels. Plus several older women such as myself who are traveling solo.

Wirh a lot of places having school opening delayed being online only I am sure the developed campsites will be staying busy well into the fall compared to most previous years.

I am wondering what a bed bath is and in awe of Maki's ability to put up with loud race noises nearby. Also concerned about mildew in someone's damp laundry. Do that laundry now... just a suggestion if you value your clothing!

Here in HC - wow... talked to my son yesterday. He lives across the street and down a few houses with some friends of his. He told me a few nights ago about 2:30 a.m. he was woken by a woman breaking into the place. She was carrying an axe. She started swinging it around and he tried to get her to calm down. One of his roommates woke up and she recognized him. There was more axe swinging and she put axe holes in both bedroom doors. Finally she calmed down. My son got the axe and put it outside on the roof. His roommate offered her a ride elsewhere! Meanwhile, three other young men in the place never woke up - one in a bedroom and two sleeping on the living room sofa right next to where all this was happening. They were drunk. She also tried to set fire to her parents' house nearby and invaded another home and barricaded herself inside until after 5 am. She was arrested, but was not kept in jail (which is 75 miles away.) She was set free and returned to our town very quickly. Apparently California laws don't require bail anymore.

Good thing I have a gate locked at the end of my driveway, and the yard has old fencing along the front. It could be climbed over easily enough, but does tend to keep most people out. My son's place is open to the street.

Aside from that, I'm spending a lot of time bringing in boxes and cataloging my books. Taking inventory. I love books. My home now looks like the interior of a storage facility. Just fine for now. Rome wasn't built in a day. I still have boxes in the van as well, but I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

We are definitely busy here at Glen Canyon National Recreational Area (Lake Powell) at least 131% visitation since reopening every day. I won’t be going outside except to go to work and back wearing a mask and gloves as there just isn’t any way to insure social distancing. You would have thought people would know better by now but large groups of families as well as college students in a campsite with a camper and several tents sharing a campfire shoulder to shoulder with no masks, a dozen people on a boat, and little or no staff to clean public restrooms. Docks at the marina make social distancing almost impossible. We have already started having life flights due to heat and accidents but at least our young responders are beginning to wear KN95 masks. It ain’t the first time I’ve had to hide inside! Lol!!!

Let's see, do I have something positive to say about the situation in the US? Ummm, I guess not. Foo.

TA stack those boxes of books in front of the door at night!

I often keep a light on inside my van while I'm sleeping there to let people know someone is inside. Obviously, not feeling a need for stealth, where I park it.

Hang on... What is a bed bath?
According to Google it is something you do to someone else who can't get out of bed.
The staff and the residents got a very educational view...

The long range foecast says it will be hot here starting in the middle of next week. Sounds like I might want to head back to the Olympic Peninsula to avoid that as it will be 10 degrees cooler there.

I decided to wait until Tuesday to go into Seattle for my mail. If I work hard these bext three dsys on cutting inventory I can then do some boondocking for a while as I will have plenty of inventory on hand to fill any orders that come in this month. I can then  focus on my build so I am better set up for  off grid living.  I don't  enjoy multi tasking.

"Sponge bath" is probably the term they wanted to use.
They were almost there, as sponge bath is a term for a bath given to someone confined to a bed.
A couple of neurons more and they would have had it.

The local deputy said the woman was charged with felony arson for what she did at her parent's house... and won't be able to use insanity as a defense for that. As of last night she was still in custody but I don't know about tonight. I found out she damaged another neighbor's gate across the street from where I live. They had a security camera and I guess I should get one too.

And the tapestries remind me of a wall paper I had 35 years ago at my house, where the whole wall was a forest scene.
I remember that I loved it in the beginning, but seeing it day-in and day-out became old soon,
As you're very up on these matters, Sophia (Greek Goddess of Knowledge), I wonder if there isn't some sort of semi-transparent paint that one could use to paint over the ultra-saturated colors on those wall tapestries, to give an effect somewhat like Leonardo's sfumato. Then the tapestries wouldn't wear out yer retinas so fast.

I had one of those forest mural walls, too, and never got tired of it.

Put a small batch of rolls in the solar cooker... and it got cloudy.  Temp dropped from over 250F to under 200F in a blink.  I'm still optimistic :-/ , 'cause I just am.
