Well, I did spend the night in my van, in the motel parking lot!
Woke up about 3:30 this morning, and decided that was as good a time as any to get gone. On the road at 4.
6 am found me eating breakfast in Camarillo, that was about 100 miles in 2 hours of relaxed driving. As opposed to the trip in, which was 60 miles in 3 hours of white-knuckling.
Now ensconced on my friend's couch near Santa Cruz. Van drove just fine. Tomorrow I will do sorting, inventorying, and list making. Then Monday look for a mechanic, and maybe a locksmith. Rough plan is to spend about a week here, then head to Q.
Still get weepy when I think about things like my sewing machine and my aunt's necklace - but dwelling on loss doesn't help. I'm encouraging myself to concentrate on Building It Back Better.
