Well, I did spend the night in my van, in the motel parking lot!

Woke up about 3:30 this morning, and decided that was as good a time as any to get gone. On the road at 4.

6 am found me eating breakfast in Camarillo, that was about 100 miles in 2 hours of relaxed driving. As opposed to the trip in, which was 60 miles in 3 hours of white-knuckling.

Now ensconced on my friend's couch near Santa Cruz. Van drove just fine. Tomorrow I will do sorting, inventorying, and list making. Then Monday look for a mechanic, and maybe a locksmith. Rough plan is to spend about a week here, then head to Q.

Still get weepy when I think about things like my sewing machine and my aunt's necklace - but dwelling on loss doesn't help. I'm encouraging myself to concentrate on Building It Back Better.

Jacqueg, I don’t wanna sound stupid but you got through this a lot better than what could’ve happened. That might make it easier to deal with what did happen. I’m sure everybody here is wishing the best for you and if there are any needs, all you have to do is say something. I have no extra money but I have faith in this community.

Wow...sure glad the van is back where it belongs!

If you set up a 'wish list' on Amazon and list a few things you need, some of us might be able to help you out...just sayin....

Jacque. You can use my sewing machine anytime. I carry two with me for different things.

It was such a personal violation, a rape of sorts, so you are not only traumatized but grieving.

And it’s shaken your sense of your world a bit.

I bookmarked this a couple of years ago, and open it up to read this list when I feel I need it.

And I like the saying “Scars are tattoos with better stories”.

You’ve added an experience to the tales you tell others, and may be able to help save someone else by what you are posting here…about what happened to you, and what you have done in response to it.

A lighthouse of sorts, for others who may hit the same rocks.

jacqueg... if you need a new diesel heater or a swing-away cargo hitch for your van, you can have them free. I sold my van and bought a cargo trailer, so they are just in my way now.

If anyone needs a diesel heater or a swing-away cargo hitch for free, simply send me a message. I sold my van and have a vented propane heater in my cargo trailer.

Jacque, I'm indefinitely delayed in getting to Q. If you text me your friend's mailing address, I'll pack up my omnia and send it to you PDQ. The 0 gravity will have to wait, unless you're passing through Pahrump on your way to Q. Also, describe your sewing machine. I'm going to thrift stores and yard sales frequently for entertainment and dark green sheets to tear up.

Ravella, what are you planning to do with torn dark green sheets? Sounds like an art project.

Not much happening here. I submitted the application for a house grant so... just need to wait and see on that.

Medicare part D - I had to change that as my company sold out to another company that planned to triple the premiums. Not okay with me.

It was a Singer 301 long bed. It's nearly as collectible as a Featherweight. I appreciate you taking a look, but frankly I'd be very surprised to find one in a thrift store.

I could pass through Pahrump on my way south - I was thinking I'd like to head down the east side anyway! Most likely between Dec 15 and Christmas. Would be fun to see you!

Great! I'll text you my location.

I've found some amazing things at thrift stores and yard sales. Even if unlikely, its worth keeping an eye out.

Don't know if you had the rack and silicone liner for your Omnia, but the one you're getting has them. I will also forever be looking for an Ovenette for you -- because it's that much better than the Omnia. It's a little bigger to carry, but so with its extra space!

Wandering Rose-- thanks! Its a great nomad hobby. No new materials, and the only tool needed is wittled from a stick :D

That's a beautiful rug! I have a dark green sheet I could send you - it is kind of faded in spots as I had it hanging over my window for a while.

Wandering Rose, thats pretty sweet about the crocheted rug. Its awesome when fabrics are infused with spirits and love.

TA, I will take you up on that! Thanks!Let's trade addresses in PMs and when you mail it, tell me what I owe you for postage and also a couple of bucks for the sheet. Dark green sheets are amazingly hard to find. I didn't have much yrouble finding dark purple! Anyway, check your PMs :)

I might take a drive out to YARC camp soon. I will checking it out to see if the rumor that there has been an unauthorized occupation of Cammalu and GetSmart's parking space. But the person who told them that is just a big tall guy wirh a little, sometimes white, dog who likes to tease his friends.

But if there is any running off of unauthorized persons to be done I will leave that up to Brian. His generator is a lot louder than mine.

Ha!

It’s first come first serve out in the LTVAs so no big surprise. We parked about 50 foot away. Others will be rolling in starting tomorrow so they will just have to get used to it as they are going to be surrounded with YARC campers. It looks like there could be many more of us this year. Hope so.

Anyone else on here coming to YARC Camp this year?
