Some progress on reorganizing and downsizing got done today. As well as the laundry! Still have at least one more day of that to do before I am ready to hook-up and head out. I want to get an early morning start when I do that so I get to Lake Havasu City by noon. Of course I will be gaining an hour with the clock going back an hour when I enter Arizona. That will be great, I like it staying light later in the after noon. But less than a month until the Solstice, more daylight is worth celebrating.

Well Maki2... drive safe... I never saw so many serious accidents in one day and night as last night. Two in Utah, one across the border in that stretch of Arizona and one just inside of Nevada. Then a couple bad ones in Vegas... unbelievable the traffic. But every big city seems to have their Sunday afternoon/evening rush of people trying to get home for the week.
Jacqueg has a good perspective for someone who lost everything. Let us know what you decide. What a great opportunity for a bunch to be able to do what they all can to help. I’ll bet we could even talk Ravelle to cook up something unhealthy. Haha.
Nature Lover... your right on about the cat. But I think these dogs have been hanging around those cats to long. They get a little demanding themselves. Oops, gotta go. My dog needs something...

Nctrynben I knew that I was either going to drive on Thanksgiving when people were mostly at home or wait until after Monday to travel on a highway. I know better than to be out on the roads on a long holiday weekend. I have not yet lost all my marbles.

Of course I am not sure about exactly why you were out there amid the mayhem. What's the hurry? Someone chasing you or you just needed to make a quick getaway? :)

holiday travel and everyday work travel and cars on the road in certain areas is ALL the same.
who are we kiddin' here. Unless OFF in some boondock type area there are vehicles crowding it all thru road construction and exits and time of day and more. There is no open road truly anymore, and it will only get worse.

key is patience. Just drive in it all and if one has no restraints, then ya got it made. The journey even if slow in traffic and crazy on the road is still FUN if you can be that person :) Just drive and chill is all we can do.

Well, I’ll call it a get away... I had enough of the cold. I’m out west to do just that. At my daughters I’d be lucky to see the highs as high as the lows are here in Quartzsite. And... I was going the right way. Away from the big city (Salt Lake in this case). Vegas... there’s a town where no one sleeps. But again I seemed to be going the right direction. All the accidents were on the other side going the other way. I got up early and drove younger daughter to Salt Lake... zero traffic. Proceeded south and just north of Beaver got off the highway to grab some solar and nap. I was pretty disgusted about trash so I grabbed my grabber and cleaned up the place. Then napped and had a bite to eat. And away I went before I was considered a resident... haha.
Today... nice breeze... not to hot (yet)... relaxed!

It is the time of the semi-annual migration. There will be plenty of time to chill when you get there, but I know it is definitely chillier here where I am.

Life goes on. I just walked my property again today. It all looked good to me. I did my errands, and now I'm back in the travel trailer again with enough food for a few days.

I'm going to chill . . . in more ways than one.

Have a happy Arizona (or Florida) you guys...

Van theft update -

Van was found abandoned in Downey, Ca. It's now in an impound lot in Santa Ana. Driving down today to assess the situation. The dispatcher I talked to said it was towed in - because of course the thieves had no keys - and because this is a giant impound operation, dispatcher could not tell me the condition. Hoping thieves didn't take my registration - why would they? - so I can get it out without having to wait a few extra days for Washington to snail me a replacement registration - apparently they won't send it by email. I am wildly swinging between hope and dread.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Jacque. I hope they left lots of fingerprints for the cops.

I have deleted a few posts. No bickering please. If you're not sure about whether to post something please read over the rules of the forum first especially number 4.

4) Don’t be a know-it-all or dismissive of others. We’re family and we’re here to help and support each other. So before you hit the “Send” button, ask yourself if what you are writing is helpful and supportive or is it to make you feel better about yourself. Are you just trying to prove you’re smarter than everyone else and you’re right and their wrong? That turns into fighting and bickering over nothing and that makes this an unpleasant place for people who come here in need.

#4 is great but the mods should do something about repeat offenders.

Jacque, I’m swinging towards hope for you.

Darn I missed all those posts that were deleted. Sometimes that’s the most entertaining thing I do all day is read that stuff. :) :) :)

The recovery rate in the US is not too bad at 46%. The condition it's found in is another matter.

Let's hope it will be OK!

I’m guessing the fuel tank is empty Jacque... like nature lover, we’re all anxiously awaiting what you find out. Does it even run? Did they do your laundry and put your clothes away? Haha.
But most important... what will it take to get you and it to Arizona? Let’s hope the registration is right where you left it!

I'll be thrilled if Mr White still has his engine and/or transmission! Bonus if my house plants are still in it.

I expect the interior to be all torn apart. What mystifies me is why ANYONE would steal a 20-yo van full of camping stuff. I just can't imagine it would be worth their time to try to fence that stuff to an urban fence... I mean, it still has the original radio and speakers in it - which sound so bad that I never bother with it!

It would be alright if they took the poop bucket though. That's easy to replace.

Tomorrow I'll know.

I’ve always thought that my 1998 dodge with his rust spots all over was a deterrent to theft. Maybe I need to think differently. I really hope things work out for you today.

Hoping for the best for Jacque's van recovery. Jacque, see you in Q and I'll be ready to help any way I can.

I've a friend whose ancient Saturn was stolen and recovered. The thieves were actually caught and ordered to pay damages, but we all know that it's impossibke to get blood out of turnips. The thieves did some weird swirly multi-colored paint thing on the glove compartment. When I ride in that car, I'm always trying to imagine what the thief/painter was trying to achieve.

Surfing google maps this morning and YARC Camp is on the map. Pretty cool!!

Now it will be easy to direct people in. There is a big rig there this year where I’ve built up my site with rocks, BBQ and campfire and I know they know they are in an established camp but I’ll be pulling in anyway and they will just have to share the camp with all of us. I’ll be raising the flag and putting a couple signs out when we get there. Come visit or join us.

Looks like their might be some feuding to do LOLOLOLOLOLOL
