Plenty of examples of both types, but early weapons had little or no safeguards, yet we are still here. Most of us wake up each morning without any idea what the day will bring. Several people are inspired each day sing, laugh and smile by a simple song and that means more to us than most other things in life. No wonder we remember when we heard a song or performer and connect that to certain times in our lives. Music seems to crowd out a lot of the bad things in life especially the natural sounds of wind, water and wildlife but human songs do to if we take the time to listen.
Maybe we should start to listen to the educational rock songs and maybe a modern folk movement will start. "Alice's Restaurant" had a van in it, maybe some living in a van down by the river inspirational songs. Tony and Karen I believe sang some at the van burn.

Do you mean incidents like nuclear war or do you mean incidents involving nuclear power? I imagine there have been many close calls.
I was reading on one of the military sites I frequent about the B-52 that released 2 Thermonuclear Bombs, both armed and ready. One was recovered with all but one of the triggering devices released, one small diode kept the East Coast from a major nuclear event.
Part of the second bomb was found, but not the warhead, it's suspected to be 100-200 ft buried in the ground.
I could find the link to the story but my magic sleeping potions are starting to work.

Yikes. I suspect that if we knew about all the close class, we wouldn't be able to sleep at night. We might need to start looking for our own Private Idaho or something.
