I wanted to share a link to a YouTube channel I came across. It's called Journey with Jono. Jono decided to sell his house in England and move onto a 60' × 6' canal boat and wander the rivers and canals of UK with his dog. He does really good videos, since he used to work at the BBC. He is very methodical and explains why he makes this modification or that. For instance, here is the first one I saw, about why he was switching to lithium batteries:

His boat was brand new, but completely empty, so he is doing the build out and uplifting with much the same goals as vandwellers. Anyway, check it out. Much to learn and think about.

Thanks for sharing. I love the craftsmanship of boats. I'll be looking forward to watching this series when I get off work. 0622 am here in Afghanistan

I lived on boats most of my adult life. There are many similarities between boats and an RVs.

Entertaining series. Thanks for posting. It is a little light on details.

Except perhaps that mobile living on water instead of land has even more compromises, risks and hassles? Boating was actually my first choice before a wheeled vehicle until I learned of the costs and downsides.

Yes the vehicle is lots more costly if you want safety offshore.

But unlimited "boondocking" opportunities once you're self-sufficient.

But practicalities are a minor factor, most land-based people just would not enjoy life on a boat.
