An Arizona senator has introduced a bill that will allow American citizens to sue China for damages because of their delay in notifying the rest of the world about the virus.

Then there are the lawsuits pending against those in the US media who, until a short time ago, claimed it was all a hoax.

If I was in Texas, I would give my C19 check for a Whataburger #5, double bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos and yes, supersize the fries with spicy ketchup to dip them in, and a gallon of real coke.  Burp.  Ahhhh.

Mail me that check and I will 'ovenight air' you this meal!

But seriously folks, I am also SO tired of being good...I just wanna go out and be BAAD!

Take a motorcycle ride down to the crowded local pub, order a Jim Beam and Coke, tall, double, and a huge hatch green chili double cheese burger, and a full order of steak fries, and a nice hand-cramping cold corona I mean Coors Light beer chaser...then hug the cute waitress and shove a few dollars in the tip jar and then shake the hands of all my friends...

Ah..dang..I'm old...I remember when my fantasies had nothing to do with lunch...

@tx2sturgis
Thx for the chuckle! I am itchin' a bit myself.

Being unattached I am living by Dylan Thomas, iirc...
Rage,rage against the dying light...

Several interpretations of that. :)

I guess I must already be insane because it is not driving me crazy.

Over the last few weeks I have spent lots of time alone getting to know myself better. But I found out I really don't like myself that much:)

I discovered that I do better at getting things done when I set myself a specific challenge and get serious about doing things that will advance me toward whatever the goal is. For example - in 2014 I wanted to ride my bicycle from the Washington state line to the end of the North Idaho Centennial Trail. Picture this - one out of shape old woman with no bike riding skills, getting on a bike... and struggling. At first I could not go up hills.at.all. I couldn't ride far and I often had to get off and push the bicycle. But I continued to practice and by October 4 that year, I took the bike ride and fulfilled my goal. I rode 37 miles that day. Painful! But I did it. I have videos to prove it.

Another goal - I wanted 100 videos on my YouTube Booktube channel. Now I've got 200+. Lots of work involved and many hours of learning video skills, and I don't get paid for this - it is all a hobby. This month I finally got to 500 subscribers on that channel, which I started in 2014. Slow growth... but still a hobby I enjoy as it is great fun to find a community of people who like to talk about books.

So all this came to mind today because I need exercise, and since I'm in isolation I can't "climb the hill" which is a mile-long uphill trail called the Town Trail here. I did climb the hill in early March, so yes, I can do it... but I don't want to because of C19 right now. So I have an old workout video called "Walk Away the Pounds" with Leslie Sansome - it is a 4 mile walk video. And I thought it would be cool if I challenged myself to be able to do that 4 mile walk again. Now, recently I used the video and got to 1 mile, then quit. So I want to increase my miles until I get back to where 4 miles is easy for me - and that can all be done in my living room. Also, maybe now that we're all wearing masks around town, I'll feel more confident about going to hike the Town Trail again. That is such great exercise. Meanwhile, the 4 mile walk is my challenge.

I hope it also includes US leaders who delayed taking this seriously

.... deep sense of impending doom I’ve been feeling....
I was feeling that also, and then I read that research story connecting exercise with virus blocking antioxidants.

I feel that there is hope for those of us who get back to putting on the miles and lifting a few weights. Besides those feel good endorfins, your bod is also making killer antioxidants.

I feel much better now.

......allow American citizens to sue China for damages .........
Is there a court that has the jurisdiction to hear such a case?   I am asking a question of Law.   A suit does not proceed unless a court has standing to access the case and to impose damages.

I'm no lawyer and don't play one on TV either but I believe there is something called the World Court.

The senator is probably just doing it for show anyway to make China look bad and to show people She Cares.

Although I believe there have been cases where people have successfully sued foreign gov'ts and won but then collecting might be a big problem...

(I'm too lazy to google at the moment).

Or could be local lawsuits. Like that guy at the big box store pharmacy who said I was not social distancing because the pharmacy windows were close together.

Will he sue me for being at the next window?

Will I sue him for not wearing a mask?

Will we both sue the big box for having their windows too close, and keeping people waiting there for long periods of time?

I hope there is more to look forward to than a bunch of lawsuits.

International law - something I never studied, but I know there are lawyers who specialize in this.
From Wikipedia:
" ... "public" international law is said to cover relations between nation-states and includes fields such as treaty law, law of sea, international criminal law, the laws of war or international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and refugee law. By contrast "private" international law, which is more commonly termed "conflict of laws", concerns whether courts within countries claim jurisdiction over cases with a foreign element, and which country's law applies."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_law

My policy: let the lawyers battle it out.
Go read a book, make another video, create weird art.

What next ?.. it,s a bit scary for America, when 911 happened the country and the world got behind the US fed gov. No matter the political affiliation, in time of war or past crises the country pulled together. it seems very different this time. It is pulling apart.

911 was a 1-off event back east. Covid is a 2,000,000-off event that affects everyone in the US, and will be doing so for the next 3-4 months at the very least. No comparison.

Watch out if you're in any of the states where people are starting to protest the shutdowns. First off, those people don't care the least about social distancing, and secondly, a lot of them are carrying semi-automatic rifles. Best stay out of range.

You're right. Sometimes guns can make a bad situation worse.

Guns have their place and in most states you can conceal carry (some harder of course) for self protection.

I own guns but I just don't see the need to 'make a statement' like that.
