Did my phone in order for a test kit at Walmart. Sat in the parking lot and ran it. Strongly positive result.
I guess I will not have to worry too much about getting another Covid vaccine this fall but I will still be getting one for influenza.
I am back to feeling pretty much normal but still have a couple of more days to finish up with the prednisone course of treatment. That is one of the drugs you have to stick with tapering down the dose over a few days. It was a huge help in preventing a major ongoing sinus infection as I am very prone to that and it kept my lungs clear as well. The 3 day major sinus area headache was definitely no fun to endure, even extra strength Tylenol could not it back on just a single 8 hour time release pill. But it was not a wide spread headache, just the forehead area above my eyes was the focus area of pain. I never totally lost my sense of smell but it did seem perhaps slightly diminished. Or maybe the prednisone brought it back because for sure that 1st 24 hours my nose was too stuffy to for any smells to get through.
So yes my symptoms exactly matched that of a sinus infection except that it was a sudden onset with an immediate totally clogged nose and headache with a very low grade fever. Then some sneezing and a dry cough. I isolated myself from my friends at that first symptom of a major stuffy nose with headache, it did not feel like at all like a slightly stuffy nose from road dust. There was no confusing it as anything but an abnormal onset of an illness.
When it is past the contagion point I will drop in at the county health clinic facility and get some free home test kits to have more on hand for myself and friends. If you are low on funds that is usually a good place to pick some up. But call before you go to confirm. Plus they might also have some distribution locations. When I was in Ajo, AZ the public library had some left there by the County Health Department of Pima County. Flagstaff AZ is Coconino County, Quartzsite, AZ is in La Paz County. You can track down those locations for yourself if you need them. They do often have mobile clinics going out to the smaller towns in the county several times a year so you can ask about that as well. Pretty much all across the nation there are county health departments. Not all types of testing they offer are free but the cost is generally lower than going to a doctors office when you are uninsured.
