As always when I post about manganese someone reads too fast and confuses it with the mineral magnesium and responds by posting that they already take magnesium. They are not spelled the same way or even pronounced the same. They both start with "ma" and have some letters in common but they are absolutely not the same mineral.

Aloha folks. Just checking in to say that my camp host volunteer commitment ends next week and I will be scratching my hitch-itch shortly thereafter. I'll be slowly heading for Quartzsite.

I'm happy to say that work camping has been good for me in so many ways. My duties were physical enough to count as exercise, and also required exercising my (near atrophied) social muscles. I did good, as evidenced by the new contacts in my phone and a couple of internet reviews that mention the camp host in a complimentary way, along with the near daily positive comments from campers on the 6 campgrounds I've been caring for.

See some of you soon-ish!

A couple of good games this weekend.Ar vs Ol Miss.and Ga vs Auburn.Hard to believe we are halfway thru the season already. Also Iowa vs Penn St.It's been a good year for watching college football.

Arkansans LOVE their Razorbacks.
It doesn't matter if they ever win.
This is eternal and unconditional L  VE

MANGANESE. I'll look into it, thank you, maki.

Well, I'm about ready for my weekly shower now. Son and I show no sign of falling ill so I'll give it one more day. I wanted to wait to break protocols until Friday night and son about had a fit so I gave him Thursday night.

Just got my flu shot, next month I'll get my Covid booster.

I'm having a winning week. A couple nights ago I was taking unused apps off my phone that were sucking the life out of the battery. Saw the Double Down casino app and hadn't played for a long time. I logged in, picked a game, spun 15 times and won 775 million credits. Tuesday I bought a Powerball ticket and won $40 on it last night. There's a nice casino about an hour north and if we weren't in a pandemic I'd go up there for a couple hours. It's a pretty day for a drive.

Glad you're taking this seriously, Wandering.  We've been averaging about 20 deaths/day here, but the rolling 7-day average has dropped to 18.25 as of today (hate it when .25 of a person dies...).  Our county is still red on the map; the nearby areas I like to camp are purple.  At this point, I'd love to find a dental office with vaccinated staff.  So far, no such luck.

While I'm sticking my neck out, let me add that our Governor, who famously seeks to "protect the life of every child with a heart beat," continues to direct his AG to sue school districts with mask mandates.  Inconsistent, at best.

Wandering soul:

Re sweeping those pine needles out of the tent, here is my tip:

In addition to the tarp I put under the tent, I put one inside over the tent floor. I use a size a bit larger than the tent floor, pull up each corner and clip it in place to form a tent "tray.
This has kept my bedding dry even when other campers got totally washed out. Once the flooding was so bad, I was floating on my mat on top of the tray as water ran under the tent! The best part is when you break camp, gather up all tray corners in one hand and drag it out the door. Then dump all the dirt and debris back where it came from and no sweeping of the tent floor is needed. The tray saves wear and tear on the tent, too.

I am very glad I live where I do.  I hope more people start taking it seriously.  A lot around here don't either.

That's a fantastic idea, thanks!

Tarps to put inside the floor of a tent (per GypsyJan's excellent suggestion) should not be the blue-type tarps (of any color). If you've used that type for any reason, you've probably noticed that they are WOVEN, not solid. They're sturdy, and usually fine for covering things (if the water runs off quickly), but they simply aren't watertight if dips can form that hold water, or if submerged in water, as the water will gradually leak through -- not good for sleeping bags, clothing, etc. And they're subject to deterioration in sunlight.

The best ones are the 6-mil thick clear or black polyethylene ones. Around here in Western WA, the smallest ones are 10x25 ft, and cost about $32. If you are wanting to protect a 10x10 or 10x12-foot area, just cut the 10x25' one in half and store the second half out of sunlight.

^^ Thank you for that info.

I'm still running in circles trying to figure out all my Medicare stuff. I do have a broker I can go in and talk to anytime I want and she's a big help. Yesterday I spent most of the day and evening reading the threads at r/Medicare on Reddit and now I have 3 pages of questions (so far) and another appt with the broker lady on the 19th. I made it for the 19th because the new Part D prices will be out by then.

Broker lady told my on my first appointment after I mentioned I might have to come back in that some people come in three times before they have all their choices made. I'm probably going to go four. lol

My first thought Ravelle and X the reason you got such reviews is all the stuff you baked for people. Haha!
Maki2, that is very cool... you definitely have a talent!
Wondering soul, the Medicare maze is a tough deal to figure out. It’s like here’s your options, good luck. Was it hard to find a good broker?

I'm still hoping for medicare for all.We are the richest country in the world. If other countries can do it,why not us.

There is a lady in town that came highly recommended, I didn't have to go looking for someone.  I am going to chat with a different broker this week, just for comparison's sake. ;)

Medicare for all would be best.  What I'm hoping for is the addition of dental, vision and hearing benefits but I'm not holding my breath.

Just staying busy at the HOWA caravan site in Pahrump NV having a lot of fun, laughing a lot, getting work accomplished as well.

A wind storm is on its way. This morning the forecast said it would arrive Tuesday with up to 50 mph gust. This evening the forecast is for it to arrive on Monday with up to 45 mph gust. It was windy today so my screen room is now a bit of a social gathering spot as it is perfect for sitting kinda of outside but also being out of the wind. I do have it well staked down for high winds so I do not need to take it down for this wind event. Of course tears could happen but I have plenty of tent patching supplies.

Having trouble keeping my eyes open, time to sleep. Very grateful not to have the nightime low temperature in the low 30s now.

Happy for you Maki…and everyone gathering at HOWA… wish I could be there too….but I am not ready….and I have no idea when I will be…………………low on energy………

How many in the caravan Maki? Is it mostly newbies?

Gypsy108, I'm low on energy too. I'm thinking about making big changes in my life.

Got home from the trip yesterday. Now, back in the stationary travel trailer. Wish I wasn't staying in the northern valley another winter but I don't see a cure for it.
