Figured out tbe best time of day. to go grocey shoping. In Quartzsite. It is not in the early morningbecauuse people go to bed vearly so are ready to go shopping when tbe stores open. The bes  time is actually at lunch timebetween 11:30 and 1:00. They mignt be in town but they are very likely be at the places that serve lunch.. But skip grocery shopping on a Wednesday as that is tbe day of the week social security checks get direct deposited.

God bless and many prayers for you!

Nature lover I’m so sorry to read this but glad you’re getting great care. I’m not going to scare you but beg you to continue to cooperate with the healthcare people. They know what they’re doing. I lost a friend to a foot wound because she didn’t cooperate. I remember wondering about your situation whenever you’d mention it. Sounds like you are cooperating and doing well. Stay off the leg and keep it elevated.
Enjoy being taken care of. Meals in bed and all the tv you can watch sounds ok to me.

Will pray for you. Sending much love and healing. If you need surgery allow it. It works. I learned a lot about your condition from my friend’s husband.
Again, will add you to my prayer list.

nature lover:

You are in my thoughts and prayers! A few hundred years past, they used maggots to clean wounds....now doesn't that make surgery a better alternative?

After surgery Nature Lover is going to have a difficult time getting away from the nurses whose job it is to make sure he follows orders. Of course if the female nurses are very attractive and attentive he will be wanting to stay around lmuch longer than is required.  No worries about him being a good boy.

This is the nature lover fan club thread now. I hope you enjoy being waited on hand and foot while you're there. Breakfast in bed, and all that.

My today - well, nothing worth writing home about. I went out and got propane. My gardening supplies came, some of them. I ordered a greenhouse and something to plant my seeds in. Thinking positive. Sure is raining heavily and incessantly tonight.

Not so much a fan club of any one individual. It is more of a support group for those who are in need of some positive encouragement to get through the rough patches in life. Of course also for those seeking to gain knowledge and those seeking friendship.

This morning now that the. Solar has. Topped my battery up to 100% I am getting ready to print out the postage/shipping labels fot thr orders that came in yesterday. Then a quick run into town to mail the. On the way out of LaPosaSouth I will stop to put the trash into the dumpster and fill up some gallon size jugs of water. Despite what some people might think the potable water here taste just fine. It is not salty and does not have a strong mineral taste to it.

I have some reaction to the dust and dryness here in the Quartzsite area but Flonase is a big help in keeping inflamation under control so that I dont get a sinus headache.Tthe Dollar General Store here stocks it at a reasonable price. Dollar General is part of the Dollar Tree chain but it carries more groceries, sundries and other goods and fewer one dollar items than a Dollar Tree store.

Today I am getting out my measuring tappe and will get to work on my buils. First up fi ish cutting the interior trim pieces that go against the vertical edges of my windows, 6 of them are needed.  Of course drilling fastener holes, sanding and varnishing are needed before they can be installed. Even what seems like simple jobs take time to accomplish because of the steps involved. Lots of trim piiieces to get put in this week. The skill is having patience to cut them accurately as there are no dead easy to cut 90 degree angles. All the angles are somewhat off 90 degrees, it is a 50 year old fiberglass trailer with lots of odd angles in it. But I have special angle meaduring tools to assist with getting it right. But it is still slow going and time consuming and takes a lot of focus.

Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar. Dollar General is a.totally separate corporation that is a competitor. I just verified this online.

Hello hello to my nomad friends thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes and prayers. I’m making good use of the time here because I am testing the capacity of my battery system in my van which is sitting outside and I can’t get too. Surgery was 5 o’clock last evening I got back in the room at 1:00 AM and another busy day here. They took bones off the side of my foot and my little toe. The infection had gone into the bone. So my little piggy went to market and it cried we we we all the way to the pathology lab. The problem is now I can only count to 19. More surgery Monday to reattach tendons and such. I hope they give a discount because I’m getting two surgeries in the same week. One of the nurses here just told me that if I charge for every time someone came in and out the door of my room the hospital would owe me instead of me owing them. I am getting back in that van I am going to the Everglades and I’m going to take pictures it’s just gonna take longer than I thought. God bless the nomads no matter where they are.

Sorry got it mixed up because both of those stores are in Quartzsite , onenat the east end of main. The other at the west end. Family dollar is on East Main.

nature lover:

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you will soon be on the road to recovery....hopefully before the Everglades get too hot and buggy to enjoy. There's always next year...save some things to see then.

Sorry about that little piggy, nature lover. Glad you have your sense of humor, though. I always say, "You haven't lost everything until you've lost your sense of humor." You're doing fine. Glad you have a nice comfortable place to rest up (and some good medical care) before your trip to the Everglades. I want to see alligator pictures!

I'm having a lovely at-home day. I haven't even put on shoes today. Any day I can stay here all day, I feel great happiness. I feel this way because of all the running around I did while being homeless after the fire.

I am so thankful, nature, that they left your thumbs alone. We would so miss you on here if you could no longer text to us all the time.

Hello again friends. I guess I haven’t really lost my little toe because I asked the doctor if I could have it to make a necklace he rolled his eyes but said it might be possible. All I want is the bone I don’t want the rest. Now I’m sitting in this bed waiting until Monday sometime for the surgery to reattach the tendons and close the wound completely in the meantime I’m getting tangled in my charging cords for phone and iPad and in their IV things and they’re chords and tubes and hearing all their bells ringing. I must be getting better I’m getting grumpy. If you ever saw the movie the meaning of life you must remember the machine that went ping. I think every time one of those machines goes ping my bill goes up $10

The whole cost for care is so skewed with a solution far out of my pay grade.
. however I'd love to see cost of care break down based on rate of respiration.

Take your total bill and divide it by your average respiration as charted.

..just taking about anything... pay me no never mind.

glad your making progress na...!

Wild, windy day here in Quartzsite but the wind machine got turned off when the sun went below the horizon  only got in  little bit of work time today, had to put the outside chores  off until tomorrow.

Quartzsite has some more buildings open at the Tyson Wells area with gem and mineral shows starting. I would enjoy going but will resist the temptation and wait until next year instead. There are also a bunch of big Rvs to tour but skipping that too as I am not interested in owning one. I went to an RV show in Seattlea few years ago, the only thing that appealed to me were some of the A line popup trailers. I guess I would much rather have a small cabin on a piece of land than a large RV. But for now I am very content with my small trailer and spending the winter on BLM land in the southwest. Quite likely to do much the same in more winters in the future.

I am now owned my a 10 week old puppy names Callie. We are learning together. Last night she whimpered when I put her into her new crate so I took her to bed with me. Within a hour the bed and I got peed on. Callie is now crate trained. To be fair, I put the crate on the bed at my head so she wasn't left in a room all alone in her first night away from Momma and siblings.

She is a kind of chiweenie mix, a rescue I think. Found her from an ad for a dachshund rescue but seemed to be buying from an individual. I think they needed the money more than I did so I'm hoping I did the right thing. She is not afraid of hands and settles quickly. Monday I'll make an appointment at the vet to start her shots and get her general health affirmed.

When my friend grought home a new puppy I gifted the puppy with several large puppy sized, furry, stuffed animals. All the stuffed animals were purchased from a thrift store. The puppy is used to sleeping in a pileup of siblings plus mom. The stuffed toys make a comforting substitue. During the day they stayed out on the floor in a pile for relaxing against during naps.

This is an easy transition help in the first month.
