"My plastic baking soda submarine was yellow..........."

Popeye,

The subtlety of this statement speaks volumes---
Therefore, I hereby anoint you a true & loyal  Raider of the Lost Lark.

Don't let it go to you head. :p

No tub just a shower.

Submarine is long since gone.
The chemical reaction interested me so......

Popeye:
Unsupervised, eh?
Well don't worry.  I'm not one for supervision either.

Basically, a loose cannon.  More bang for the buck. :p

On the importance of Karma & good vibes when buying a used VW Bus

It's not easy to leave a beach house in Hawaii but, after two years, I succombed to island fever.
Together with my boyfriend, we flew to LA & began the hunt for what would be my second VW
poptop camper.  We were headed for Guatemala, but first:  Mexico!

After nearly a week of grueling & disappointing days hunting, we found *just* the one!
A lovely baby blue & white air cooled bus, a pop top, with a dealership warranty.  Only 5 years old,
low mileage, clean inside & out.

Best of all, & never to be taken lightly, it had "good vibes."

We took it for a test drive---it checked out & looked good to go.
But back at the dealership, our hearts sank to learn it was already SOLD---to someone else---who
would pick it up that afternoon.  I nearly crumpled.  Until this bus, nothing even remotely appealing
had materialized.  Certainly nothing with "good vibes."   Now what to do?

That night I dreamed the deal on the bus had fallen thru.  I awoke & recalled my dream, then shook
my boyfriend awake to tell him the "news".  He was less than enthusiastic.  In fact, he scoffed at my
dream, rolled over in bed & pulled the sheet over his head.

But at 9:00 sharp I phoned the dealership (just on the off chance...)  The Bus was again For Sale!
Now that's what I call good Karma.

did you buy a lotto ticket on your way to pick up the van?

Never use up all your good Karma in one day!

Besides, every time I buy another vintage VW camper I know it's just another opportunity
to throw more money away.  Who needs a lottery ticket?  At least with the air cooled bus I'll
come out of knowing more than I care need to know about valve adjustments.

There ought to be a 12 step program for VW campers.  So you could call som  eone every time
you get the urge to buy another one!  Love them, but worse money pits than sailboats.

btw:  will there be any old school trucks left in CA, after you've bought them all up?  Maybe
you plan on "flipping" one to me when I'm in the market?

OK , this thread is for people that "Ain't Right" right ?
Very few posts lately so I'm just wonderin'.....
How many members on the forum "Ain't Right" but won't admit it here ?
I suspect the number is pretty large.

Is it a case of not realizing it and nobody has dropped a clue or worry about possible shame or .... ?
Denial ??

Anybody ????

Popeye, where have you been?  Playing hard to get?  :p

It's beginning to rain.  I  *should*  get out there & jack more metal T-posts out
of the ground, but I'm a little lazy after Thanksgiving & I think I feel a story coming
on.  I'm tempted to write about my father & his collection of bow ties & how I first
learned to drive a stick shift.

But first a cup of Earl Grey while I channel the past.
