I was on a small lake in SE Michigan where my family lives. I love Lake Michigan though. I always say that I could live in Chicago because of that lake. I hope to do some camping this summer somewhere on one of the lakes. Not sure which yet though.

I've lived in the city twice, the first time in 1980-1981, I had a tiny little apartment with a view of the lake, it was perfect!  I'd sit on the floor in front of the window in the mornings and drink my coffee while watching the sun come up over the lake.  Heaven.

Hello

I have acreage in NW CO that is very rural and "Off Grid".  I would like to offer the CRVL users a chance to come visit and share the property with me this summer.  It is at 8,000 feet and the weather is just now getting nice enough to not need heat overnight.

I don't have solar, water, septic or trash service here.  You would be 45 miles from town and would need to have a vehicle with decent clearance to get to the spot to park on.  I am open to dogs, but prefer sociable ones, not aggressive ones.  There is wildlife all around and you would need to keep your dog inside at night and your trash inside so we don't get raccoons and bears drawn in.  It is real quiet here and nice.

I would like to establish a summer community of CRVL people who would like to come and enjoy the NW at no charge. I am not open to drug use on my property or loud parties with alcohol.  I could email you info on the property and other info if you'd like.

Please pm me Glenda "From Oz" for further details.  I also don't check my email or this forum daily so it may be a day or two before I get back.

Thanks

Glenda "From Oz"

Sunshine! After several days of rainy, clousy (misspelling intentional) weather, I had to get outside and walk in the sun. I hate sun. Sun makes me sick, but I went out and walked to Earthfare and bought some cereal and yogurt and even the heat didn't bother me.

Just sitting here pondering my younger days and listening to old music, had this memory pop into my head, made me smile:

When I was a firefighter, my best buddy on the department had a wonderful wife and kids who would visit the station when we were on duty. His little girl was learning her colors in preschool and had a box of crayons and a coloring book out on one visit. She came over and stood between us and alternately rubbed my arm and her dads arm; after much rubbing and going back and forth to her crayons she announced "daddy, we're not black, we're BROWN, and Queen, she's not white, she's PEACH. I always thought her view was beautiful, she saw color as just one shade in her crayon box.

Queen, such a nice story.

That's a really nice offer, Glenda. I live in Northern NM. Summer's here are blazing. When I'm road ready I'll PM you. Drove through CO for decades. Will be interested to learn more re your location and how accessible it might be for my vehicle.

Dinner tonight with a dear friend from Bozeman, MT, and sunset views on the stone terrace at my "new house", a 100-200 year old adobe.

Enjoyed sunset views, as live Friday PM music floated uphill.

First I'll get settled, then I get to travel!

It was said about the Greeks who sailed the seas long ago: "Their lust for adventure was equaled only by their eventual wish to return home."

I've always been semi-nomadic.

I hit the road today ::) i left early pm and pulled into Amarillo tx at sunset ::)

When i stopped for gas on the way, i left my wallet on top of the pump and drove off! I didn't put money in there just my DL. But 9 miles down the road i randomly was like, where's my wallet? An angel must have whispered in my ear because I looked around... Pulled to the shoulder, looked in the back... Sure enough it was missing!  I'm glad i went back to check the gas station because it was still sitting on the pump! Phew :)

Had a wonderful relaxing vacation with my honey, it helped us solidify the retirement plans. We are done here in IL end of September, then back to the beach in October.

Being outside, swimming, kayaking, playing in the ocean, sleeping late, making delicious simple meals... all reminded us that life isn't meant to be spent in drudgery waiting for "the good part" when we're old

multiple cool down showers,2-3 more should get me through the day

I went out and bought a printer for this place!

Traipsing off to the library at least every second day was driving me nuts and I've got enough to do right now without wasting an hour changing the van in to drive mode, drive to the library parking lot, walk around the large construction pit, get a pass code, print a couple of documents, drive home, return van to camper mode!

I is one happy camper... :)

A phone call from my youngest son checking up on me and my "new" plans. I keep telling him I'm doing lots of research and will make smart choices. Kinda nice to know he's worried  :D  (payback!) the other 2 think I'll change my mind. No job now, so no going back! Yipee!

Changed my own oil today.  First time in 5 years i've been able to do it on my own again since getting Lyme,  it's reversed a lot and back to doing lots of things I used to enjoy, oddly enough changing oil is something i've always enjoyed doing.   Plus, after reading the last thread on oil, I really  wanted to get a Wix brand filter in there.
