i'm fairly new to the idea of van dwelling, although I'm not a stranger to car dwelling. After some research, I'm pretty sure I prefer a van to an RV for full timing based on my needs. So now I've started shoppingn vans and have some questions.
I've only owned a few cars and my only experience shopping is really with a dealer. Owned a trusty Honda Accord for 14 years, and now a Toyota Prius. Where should I be shopping for a van? Craigslist? I'm assuming I should stay away from used car dealers. Any others places I should shop?
Also on Craigslist I'm seeing that vans a quite often overpriced compared to kelly blue book. I found a nice conversion van for $5400. I thought that sounded decent. Checked out the blu book value, and at the high end of private party value I see it priced at $2800. Is this normal, or does it have to do with my area (Los Angeles)? I'm wondering if shopping elsewhere would be a good idea. Or should I expect to haggle everyone down by about 50%?
Having never shopped for a van, is there anything I should look out for that a veteran can shopper would know about?
