A few months ago when I was in a hurry planning for my full time RV lifestyle. A friend of mine said there was a discount camping membership that offered - you pay full price for 3 days and the next 2 days were $4.99 each. I cant find it

Or did I just misunderstand what he was saying that day.

I knew about the State parks, this club was on the lines of Good Sams , PPA, etc

Passport America gives"half price", resort fees, etc not included. (If you join through my blog I get a little.) Most campgrounds only accept it when they would not be full. They merged with at least one compeditor.

Good Sam gives 10% off, same as AAA, AARP, etc.

Thousand Trails, ROD, etc. have large up-front costs and various restrictions, multi-year contracts, etc. Can be worth it if it fits your lifestyle. You can get free stays for listening to their sales pitches sometimes.

I'm a member of boondockers welcome...its a couchsurfing style endeavor for rv parking more than a campsite deal (which might even be better for you). My membership is free as a founding member, so can't say whether it is worth the little fee they charge now. I joined just to test it out, i think last august. Didn't take em long for the fee thing, but i think its just like 10 bucks a year or something if you aren't offering a spot.

Ive only ever had one inquiry about staying in my spot, which fell through because i actually moved and no longer could offer hookups. But people seem to have success using it. Im willing to bet if you don't need hookups you will find a lot of spots.

I see a lot of RV's with the "Escapees" decal on them...a lot of these have been RV's not doing the 'living in fancy RVparks' lifestyle so it makes me think they are the more adventurous type Rvers....dunno if the cost is worth it to me...but it certainly is for lots of folks...

Best,
Bri

The 1000 Trails zone Tent Camping Pass is $249 per year. You pick a zone and stay free for the first 30 nites, then it's $3 per nite. You can stay 14 days per park. You must pitch a tent. No RVs with this pass but these are RV parks with tent areas.
The Southeast zone has campgrounds in Va, Ky, Tn, Tx, Fl, Al, NC, SC. I haven't stayed in all of them but there are quite a few. I'm guessing it would take about a year to do them all.
