Cool happening this morning.... Had just woken up, unexpectedly cold after adjusting to 95 degree heat, when that happens I get in the car, turn on the heat and head for coffee, then I heard the unforgettable sound of some one driving with a flat tire, I was leaving the campground I saw her. I didn't want to stop, I want my coffee and to wake up, flashes of my daughters or I on the side of the road came to mind. I stopped, she was doing so good staying calm, she was headed back to Virginia. She had never changed a tire, had her little almost useless lug nut remover. It Was a bmw and I learned they have anti theft nuts so no way could we get it off. Long story short, she calmly problem solved and had road side assistance come out, she didn't know she had it. When I pulled out of the campground and hour later she was gone, I was so happy for her. She called a few minutes ago to thank me, saying she was really grateful to not have had to sit there alone:) I gave her my number and had told her I could come back if it wasn't resolved. As always helped me I discovered I don't have my lug nut remover tool. And I am calling my insurance company to make sure I am coved in a case like this.

Another peaceful day yesterday, now that I am in one area that I know I am working on health goals, exercise, eating mindfulness, low stress, it has been awhile! Felt weird to let down. I feel totally safe camping out her, unlike Michigan that constantly had some crisis in campground.

Lots of people living in vehicles, if people are prone to helping no end of opportunities out here to listen!

Was so excited to find first blm office, wasn't all I hope for but dragged some info out of them, skipped the four dollar maps!

I Staying in really nice state and county parks, paying, very unlike me but I don't know the good places to park and low stress is priority and a few showers a day are great!

The funniest one Edward Abby on national parks who is advocating no use of automobiles quite well. I skipped this chapter because I don't need any fuel added to my sense of deep sadness over what us humans do but he makes it hilarious!

Diane, thats is funny, u are right he said buddy and i are burning, didn't understand! I look forward to meeting u, that person posted recently that u "gathered them up" I loved that discription of what u did:) I am very very low maintance and will bring food!

more scenic road trip would be to go South through California. If you never seen Yosemite, it is worth a look. Glacier Point is quite majestic. From Reno you can go West on highway  50 to Placerville. along the  way maybe camp near Pollock Pines, (look up Sly Park Recreation area). Placerville is a good stop for food.  From there meander down Highway 49, (more like rural 49).  Heading south on 49 you will go through all the old gold towns like Sutter Creek, Columbia, Jamestown. Part of Columbia is now a free State Park and on weekends they have period actors and even a stage coach ride, (additional cost).
You will drive through old Sonora, but to get to the new part, (walmart) you will need to jog East on 180, (only about 2 or three miles, Starbucks and grocery stores there too.

Heading South from there stay on 49, (branches off from 108), the sign will say Chinese Camp. then take 120 through Groveland.
Stay on the main road to Groveland, (New priest Grade).  Old Priest Grade is a very steep climb. This will take you to Yosemite. Try to get there early in the morning. There is a lot to see, and chances of getting a campsite may not be good. There is a fee to get in, but it is worth it. Don't bypass Glacier Point. I think it is a must see. A number of waterfalls can be easily hiked to in the valley from the main roads.
Get back on 120 East. leaving the park the road gets steep, (already told you that part). Nothing to panic about, Just go slow. From there 395 South. Mono lake is interesting and just a short distance from the 120 / 395 intersection. I think there is dispersed camping in that area.  Then on to Mammoth Lakes area, or take Highway120E to Tonapah if you are in a hurry.

Thank u Danny for above. Yosemite is only two hours from here so next Friday I take my daughter to the airport at five am and off we go. Feels so good strengthening the relationship with her, seeing what she does what her life is about while we are both happy and relaxed. And I have scooted out cool places for her, when she talks about her life I now have a visual, it seems more real.

Iam for sure doing this for the relationship, I don't like staying in one place! I sound like a travel guide at the bathrooms! I stayed in Michigan longer than I wanted to for daughters wedding shower and we were planning on having her wedding in Bahamas in November I was going to fly there from Tampa. Then sandals started charging our guests huge amounts so we had to cancel, so sad. But I got the money back i was going to pay fior wedding. So now I have extra to pay for casino next week while burning man starts! I want to be inside when that starts! One of my favorite sayings is it all works out in the end if it hasnt worked out it is not the end:)

Becky U may need to get a 4 way lug wrench, they are pretty cheap at Wal- Mart.  Do you have a jack?  I use a bottle jack not a scissors jack.   I learned the hard way to check my lug nuts and tighten them..  Ranger had been in the tire shop...weeks later there was thumping and clunking noises on turns and then $50 in repairs because of loose lug nuts.  The same guy said he'd fix it but would have to charge me as anyone could  have loosened them.
When I left his shop he was absolutely sure I wasn't a lady.    :D

My regular Mech. did the work on it.  I should have checked the wheels after the first work was done. Sometimes lug nuts just loosen while driving. I knew this too!  *&%$#$$%^ I LEFT OUT.......IMO  :p

Rvpopueye is right u should be making money on your sense of humor, I love it, where would we be without it! Wasn't a lady hehe, gotta do what works, they call it skillful these days!

I have my Walmart list right here, going tonight will add the lug wrench on, good idea to look for the jack also! How did I ever make it without you all!

Whenever a wheel is removed/replaced the lug nuts should be checked and re-torqued after 100 mi. SOP ,,, period.
Any good tire shop or mechanic know this and should do this no charge.....
So the bum had it coming , glad you gave him a heaping helping!

This is plan with the dog issue. I am glad I started the thread on other dogs socialization it really made me do some soul searching, think about my values, why I am living this life style and then prioritize, one thing I know for sure about living on the road u can't have it. All! Cont

A old Irish setter attacked my dog and the owner paid for the vet bills a few months ago, in reno we had two incidents of dogs nnot under their owners control. So now on top of her natural instincts and not being trained, she has me afraid of dogs when I never was before.

She has kept me safe I will keep her safe, highest priority! For me to properly socialize her it would take me trusting myself, her, the other dog and the owner.

So because group saftey is a huge value of mine and I don't put others at risk it has lead to thoughts of how to most effectively meet people from the site that I sort of know through their posting and have been supportive.

This trying to do things in a group is totally new to me, I love being in nature with t;hea, traveling to new places meeting new people for a short time.  I am totally confident in our ability to do that as we did in the past. I do always challange myself and thought I will try this group stuff and see if there is something I am missing out on. So my always fluid plan is to pm people I know who might be in the area that would want to chat for a bit, with my dog safely in her car burro, that she loves! I am not set up to boondocks anyway I like sleeping out and heading for coffee and internet in the am!

Sounds like a good plan....
Dog burro ! I made one out of an old sleeping bag , folded in quarters.
I made the opening 1 layer down so it could be cool in the summer and by flipping it over warm in the winter. My dog absolutely loved it and would crawl in , spin around and lay down with just her nose poking out !!! Sorry no camera back then.......

U are such a good dog daddy! Good idea on the flipping it over. That is why when a while back i posted a pic of dog in a sleeping bag u called it a muffin top I think? It is so funny how they do the one circle then thump they are down I can see and hear it :)

We made it to Virginia city, knowing from some of u it is normal for temp to go up a little, so no panic, I have been practicing watching the yellow line instead of view, while listening to kid rock "rebel soul" it was alot of fun til civil war enactments started, dog freaks, we found quiet spot behind a tour bus, I would pull over when they did and look at the views cheaper and less hassle, we were right at home. Fun day

Will do thanks! Was mostly going up there to test the cooling system stuff, felt 8 miles of grade was perfect testing. Made one pass through town, found a parking space and bench settled in to watch shoppers with dog then the shooting started! We are not destined to be in towns, that's ok.  Found beautiful spot couple blocks off main drag ate my cheap bar burger from night before and started back down. Good day to u"
