Ever increasing taxes and constant new taxes are the hallmark of a government gone rogue with NO budget whatsoever - exactly the case here.  Our current administration has had NO official budget in seven years.  It's easy to keep overspending and running the "debt limit" up when they have no limits at all.

A consumer tax means that you will be paying a much higher rate than rich people do. Most people spend most of what they earn on living expenses.  The wealthy do no you can invest in s special account, 401k's or IRA's. As far as getting rid of social security,  just think about the last market crash and imagine what would happen to all those old people if they  lost their investments.  There would be a lot of them moving into their kids' house.

WITHIN LIMITS! What you can't read? Don't bother to read? Or just pick and choose what you read? But it really doesn't matter. It. Will. Never. Happen. What did people do BEFORE social "security"? You do know that it was supposed to be in addition to people ALREADY having a savings account. It was supposed to (or marketed as such) be a supplement to savings accounts. But now we are a nation of spenders not savers. Our economy has been based on spending every penny we have for so long that we have forgotten what it is to save and the ones who do save and ridiculed and penalized for doing do. We used to have an economy based on saving. With a government that spends like a drunken sailor on leave and a voting public that spends like they are rich but has to borrow every penny to do so, is it any wonder that the wealthy (who actually spend less than you might think) are the only ones saving. In order for capitalism to exist, you must have capital in the first place.

Before social security people used to die in their late 50's and early 60's and go live with relatives when they could not work or live on their own. Don't know how old you are but I can still remember a lot of those 3 generation households, especially on my family's family farms. Banks back then were paying respectable interest, but nobody expected to be able to live on their savings. People rode horsees and wagons and buses and bicycles, and few owned cars, nobody owned an RV. There was no air conditioning or PC's or refrigerators and the average person did not take vacations or travel widely like we RV'ers do, now. Those that did were known as hobos. Welcome to the 21st century.

The government is made up of people we voted in. So, look in the mirror if you want to know who to blame. Name the last administration that actually had a surplus, not a pretend paper surplus, but a real one.

Point taken, if not really accurate.  Yes, "We The People" certainly do have the annoying habit of consistently voting the same criminals back in, on both sides.  I personally do not vote "one party", being an Independent.  I vote for who actually SEEMS to match my needs.  No way to tell if he/she does until they begin performing.  Seldom works in real life but I do have my standards.  All we can do now is vote our concience, it not yet being time to "vote from the rooftops".....
But with the type of government WE keep giving ourselves we cannot reasonably expect any improvement in the tax boondoggle.
