All of my cognitively aware life, I've been in love with camping and the out of doors.  From my formative years with my dad, hiking and camping in the mountains above California's Inland Empire, to my week or more long backpacking treks in my later years up in the High Sierras, I've carried a camera.  As I prepare for my longest camping trip (for)ever, I've been perusing my old photos and finding inspiration along with little puffs of air to tide me over until the day ...

I wish I could be here now ----->

Or, here ---->

Or ---- >

I wish I'd had more time to spend at all of the above (and so many other) places ... time that only ended when I chose, not when the calendar said I had to go.  SOON!

Nice shots!
My life in the road is good. I’m glad I made the change.

I was fortunate enough to start my cognitive awareness in those areas, including winter trips to the Mojave. The benefits of getting more in touch with nature are awesome, all the more so in those old stomping grounds.

From a motorcycle ride up in the Rockies back in 2011:

This is Point Reyes National Seashore, just north of San Francisco, California.  I rode a Harley up the coast, and made this stop to enjoy the absolutely empty coastline.  I grew up in Huntington Beach.  That beach was NEVER empty.  Gotta make it back this way again soon!  db~

This was taken back in 2011 in the mountains above Kellog, Idaho.  It was an easy hike, and I've been back several times.  I'm going to go again and spend some time photographing this place.

I'll probably keep this thread going as part of my exodus chronicle.  More for me than anything else, but I don't mind sharing.  :)

Those are some beautiful places.  My favorite one is the windmill and the old building.  There is something about really old houses and buildings that has always drawn me to them.  Also any old household items and furnishings.

 I think being raised by my Grandparents who were born in 1900 and 1902 gave me an appreciation of things that have lasted thru time and still fulfill the purpose they were intended for.  That items in our home were sometimes  considered by others as "old" stuff seldom bothered me even as a child.

:D   Now I'm "old stuff" my damn self and that doesn't bother me either.  Replacement parts may become an issue tho ;)

Jewellann,

I prefer to think of myself as antique ... or, better yet ... wise old sage! LOL! :)
Now, if only I could keep me bones from aching! :)
