As I live my mind gets slower and slower and slower. I’m having a hard time following the different subjects of conversation that are intwined in this thread. Perhaps we ought to put a color code to separate subjects? For the life of me I’ve gone back twice and I can’t figure out exactly what some of you are responding to. Hey at least it gives me something to think about and do while it’s raining. God bless the nomads even those confused like me.

Heyyyyyy... I'm getting things done. Crossing those errands off my to-do list. And the day goes on. Things too trivial to even mention here are happening. Hope you're all having a good day.

I'm still staying at Mom's. The work that was to be finished 'maybe as long as Wednesday' when I took the motorhome in last Monday may be done tomorrow. Guess I should have had them specify Which Wednesday.

... a web site Wayne’swords.com that gives some great videos and takes, or just Goggle search “Lake Powell stripper boils video” for hours of fun. So many boats and high water temps have put most fish deep so a boat is necessary ...
Cool fishing videos on that site Bullfrog!

Do most fishermen use jetskis on Lake Powell?  The idea of jetskis and trolling seem opposite, I did not know that the machine would troll. Also the gear looks light for landing a 25 pound fish. Pretty sure my minicast will not do the job. Here is another site, and some good news (from last year) for AZ residents about the fishing license.

"Some good news for bi-state anglers! Arizona and Utah are now requiring just one license for residents from either state to fish Lake Powell.

As of Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, whether you are from Utah or Arizona you can now buy a resident license from your home state and fish all of the lake with that one license- Utah will no longer require an $8 stamp. The change also allows nonresidents to buy only one of the fishing license options from Utah or Arizona for their fishing trip on Lake Powell."

That confusion is not coming from your own head. It came because the individual who posyed about them was talking about conversations that happened in other threads on this forum, conversations which of course you would not have seen in the 24/7 Chat about Anthing section because they were never posted here.   He never mentioned the real location of those postings so it looked like it must have happened here. So don't feel so confused, it was not you, it was the other guy who was the trouble maker....this time :)

Crofter I have an Arizona fishing license as I am an Arizona resident but work in Utah. Utah and Arizona now recognize each other’s fishing licenses on Lake Powell. I drove down to Page Arizona today from Bullfrog Utah which takes about 5 1/2 hours by road and about 4 hours by water, so just because you get to Lake Powell for me to get to the best fishing still means another 1/2 day drive. The northern end is much more remote, beautiful and the top of the lake around Blue Notch and Farley Canyon in spring and fall offer better fishing and usually quiet water so kayaks or very small boats and jet skis work well. Jet skis have just started to become popular. To launch a boat of any size you have to launch at Halls Crossing or Bullfrog and travel a couple hours up lake to get there. The lake is after all 184 miles long at full pool. As Benny Hill would say “It’s big, really big!” I have worn out many micro light reels on a 5’ Ugly Stick rod using 30 lb. braided line dock fishing. There are many cables so you have to bring them straight up quick to keep them from tangling up in the cables from 10’ to 70’ depths. In good years 50 fish in 4 hours. My trolling/jigging rod is 50 lb. test braided salt water heavy duty rod and reel. My casting set up is 10 lb. test braided with a 12 lb. mono leader on a 7’ rod with a spinning reel. With the invasive mussels it is easy to get lines cut on the sharp shells.

Well corporate accountability and exploitation is one thing..it is quite another to tell me I can't have a 72 oz Mtn Dew...or eat red meat everyday..or I cant use certain words.

Just say NO...to the status quo!

Just ate red meat. Going to eat more tomorrow. Steak is good. Meat is Life.

Wanna know a good trick for a good steak? Leave it out in the fridge on a cooling rack exposed to air for a day before you cook it. It'll dry out the exterior making it crust up more quickly. Delicious! :D

I believe in freedom of speech. People should he the right to say whatever the hell they want... even if I personally wish some people would just shut the hell up. :-/

And I think Mt Dew should be banned... not because I'm an anti-sugary drinks nazi, but because it contains brominated vegetable oil which is outright toxic and can cause nerve damage. But that is getting back to corporate accountability issues. Fix the formula, guys, so it doesn't contain a damned fire retardant. Okay? :dodgy:

As for the Dew... that there's a complicated issue.

Psyckosama, welcome. I too believe in free speech but you'll find that on this message board, that doesn't always work the way you think it might. For example, moderators might (will) delete posts about politics. They do this to keep the peace around here. If we all knew everyone's political leanings and theories, there would be chaos and fewer friendships. It seems that free speech in moderation is a good idea here.

When I created this thread I wrote, "Chat about anything - so long as the moderators/admin haven't already ruled it off topic, like politics."

Anyhow, welcome.

Long day. Many errands done. My daughter went to Medford to see about buying an RV to live in so they can move back to our hometown. Hmmm.. I wonder what happened there. I should message her. Their school bus in in storage. They want to renovate it completely before they try living in it again. Not a bad idea. I think we're both really done with the "no build" builds.

Oh, just checked and did get a message from her. It simply says, "We're going to get the RV."

Had a pleasant day, got some snowflake kits cut, now its time to package up the 5 orders I need to ship out in the morning on my way to catch the ferry to Seattle.

I checked the wildfire reports and air quality reports for the Oregon coast and things are looking much improved there. Hopefully it keeps on improving this next two weeks so I can head on south on the coastal route.

I have been enjoying my time in the WA state parks and at the Casino this last two weeks. Lots of pleasnt conversations with fellow campers and with the staff and volunteer camp host too. The 10 day forecast looks to be, after Tuesday, a string of partly sunny days rather than rain and more rain. That works for me. I am in no hurry to head south and get hit with temps in the 90s. I will gladly take a 58 degree high for a fall  day versus  90 degree or 100 for a high. It is easier to put on a fleece jacket than to swelter.

I can't say as I have ever felt that my freedom of speech has ever been throttled. Of course there have been many times when I should have just said nothing due to circumstances. But that is simply a matter of lack of good judgement of situations rather tnan actual lack of free speech. However a lot of people go around saying innapropriate things thinking they ought to be able to do so with zero consequences and confuse that with their constitutional freedom of speech rights.

@Maki - I'm so excited about the start of your journey... especially after all that time you spent in Seattle getting ready for it.

I saw photos of the RV my daughter is buying. It is very pretty inside! I'm so happy for her. She just wants to get out of the hotel and back to our hometown.

Thanks for the info. I have thought about setting up camp in Page but seems like a micro sized town and a long ways from anywhere. Sounds like it would still be a long drive by boat to the fishing. I plan to get something lightweight for a boat, so not one of the big ones.

I found this site with pretty good photography of Lake Powell areas, for those who may not be as into the fish as the scenery.

This is the chat about anything thread so can expect to be random at times. I am sure if you quote the post and ask, the writer will further expound on their topic, whatever that is. Today Bullfrog and I were talking about fishing at Lake Powell. That would be a derail on any other thread on here, including how long it would take to get there. Bullfrog is pretty knowledgeable about the subject, so great to get the links and info he shared on here.

Thank you crofter. I understood the fishing thing in fact I Chimed in about how far I was from Lake Powell. It was another thread that confused me but really it’s none of my business people are free to say what they want where they want. I should’ve left it alone but I was just a little confused. Since this is my only social outlet I probably talk too much. God bless the nomads even those who talk too much, like me.

Page has a Walmart, small hospital, grocery store, auto parts, True Value hardware, lots of motels, restaurants and tourists with it being one of the Navajo reservation’s main supply points it is way too busy for me after many months of living in Bullfrog even with increased tourism. Once you get north of Mexican Hat the only source of fuel is at Hite (which may or may not have anyone there) on the way I go to Bullfrog. It is 110 miles from Mexican Hat to Bullfrog. Lol!!! If you don’t have everything you need by Page don’t plan on getting it at Bullfrog!

“Lake Powell stripper boils video” Boils on a stripper? A hot stripper?
The reality is “Lake Powell striper boils”. A whole different kettle of fish.

Just got word that my neighborhood in Happy Camp is being reopened today at noon so I will drive downriver today. It is only two hours each way. I probably won't stay long - I just want to see the place and call for my cat who is still missing.

The Red Cross will be handing out sift kits but I probably won't sift because it is unsafe. The CA Environmental Health people said they would remove all the metal then let me know when it is safe to sift for anything that might have survived the fire. There is very little that I can think of that might have survived anyway. Probably easier to replace those things than crawl through ash covered wreckage.

Sifting through ashes would certsinly require wearing a good respirator. With the conid crisis those are not easy to find in stores snd there is usually a restriction on the quantity you can purchase. But it serms like a sift kit would have at least a couple of respirators in it. You should get a sift kit for the respirator just in case it is windy when you get there. Being prepared is a good thing.
