I, too, have an estranged daughter

It is apparently very common these days! When it first happened to me more than 20 years ago I thought I was the only one. Now I belong to a group on Facebook where there are hundreds of mothers with estranged children. It is like an epidemic.

Just got a call from my sister, her twin, our brother, just told the doctors no more treatment for the non-Hodgkin’s limfoama And hospice is coming to visit tomorrow. The doctors had put off treatment that was scheduled for Feb of 2020 because of Covid. now it spread to two places on his spine. Speaking of estranged children he has two children a boy and a girl. No one knows where the boy is, haven’t heard from him for two years. “And so go to days of our lives”.

God bless the nomads, everyone. And God bless the relatives including the ones we have no idea where they’re at.

I hope your nephew will get the inspiration to contact his family in time to see his father again.

Reminds me of my grandmother's passing in 1996. I hadn't heard from my oldest son in a long time and when I called his father to ask where he was he got angry at me and he didn't know where our son was either. Without being told I was looking for him, my son called me the next day... he had been sleeping on the beach and wanted to stay with me for a while. It couldn't have been better timing since my grandmother had just died. My son brought his classical guitar and played at the wake. It was a blessing to have him there.

I was on the porch this morning giving myself a pedicure and being in dismay over my heels. I never take the time to put on vaseline and wear socks, I just don't think of it. I was looking on Amazon and Etsy at the heel balm sticks you can get now, like lip balm only bigger. I used to make a salve for hand drummers when I was hanging out with the hippies in North Idaho. Hand drumming can really destroy your hands, if your technique isn't good they'll hurt and bruise and you can split your fingertips too. I'm going to make up a batch and put it in twist up tubes, like deodorant, instead of the little tins I used to put it in.

It has stuff for moisturizing and for healing splits. Infused oils of St. John's wort, calendula, comfrey, helichrysum and cottonwood buds, shea butter, beeswax and eucalyptus, marjoram, rosemary, chamomile, sweet birch and helichrysum italicum essential oils.

I haven't made it for years, not since we quit vending at barter faire in Tonasket but I used to use it on my heels and on my hands in the winter when my fingertips would split sometimes and it works really well. I'm so excited, I love making stuff!

I switched over to the Walmart brand of baby wipes with Shea Butter, solved the issue of flaky dry skin I was having including on my feet and my fore arms. The price on them is lower than the name brand baby wipes but they are of equal quality. Sold singly or in a 4 pack. I tried a single pack first and found I liked them a lot, no perfume in them. I stocked up on them as I am not always camped near a town with a Walmart.

As a diabetic my legs and feet are drying out all the time. In fact the diabetic ulcer I had in Florida ended up in partial amputation came from a patch of dry skin. Are you Cetapril. It is expensive but it really helps to dry skin. The problem in Florida came about when I was just too lazy to use it. So I try to do it every day if I can. They have a new one with aloe in it if you have any itching or anything like that it’s soon as it fast. Walmart has their equate brand which is just as good as the regular Cetapril.

Got the first coat of water based varnish on my cabinet doors but not until the afternoon. It felt like a major milestone was accomplished to see those cabinet door frames with some varnish on them. Tomorrow will be super busy with hand sanding the first coat, wiping the dust off and then putting on coat #2.

Today I also had a large order come into my Etsy store from a repeat customer plus another smaller multi kit order from a new customer. That put a smile on my face but still means a trip to town tomorrow afternoon. Fortunately I have all but one of the items in inventory which is good as I want to focus on finishing the varnish job this Monday and Tuesday.

Everything I've bought in the Equate brand has been as good as name brand.  Sometimes better.

My son tried being miscreant after I corrected some offensive nonsense he posted on his facebook page about his early childhood years. He hates criticism from a parent regarding his actions. But I have more than one email account so I just posted on his various blogs using an alternate ID I had from long before he started a blog and gave him some advice and a lot of support that actually started him on a new career path for generating some income as well as helping his self esteem.

This winter he got so ill with a life threatening illness that he made a vow to be a better person if he survived and apparently that included stop being a miscreant. I then revealed to him that he had been talking nice to me and taking my advice and getting my praise all along these last few years. That I had never been out of touch with him.

There has been a ratty old truck hauling an Airstream of I don't know what vintage sitting by the side of the road about a quarter mile from me since last week. I never even considered they might be boondocking until this morning when I saw a schoolbus with a car behind it had joined them since yesterday. Both had their windows covered when I went by this morning. On my way back I saw that the truck had been tagged. I think the rule of thumb here is you have two weeks in one spot and then you have to move. And if a vehicle is being lived in, they can't impound it.

I'm assuming your referring to Wa. State.?

I've not heard of that for other states but it was one of the best rulings here in WA... (among many great rulings)

Good to know......... but in Washington you can get a ticket for drinking from a water bottle while driving.

WHAT??  I've never heard such a thing.  I keep 2 bottles of my tap water next to me and drink all the time.  Next time I'm in town and pull up next to a patrol car at the light like I did this morning I'll get his attention and take a big swig and see what happens and report back. :D

I FINALLY got my window coverings/curtains sorted.  I've been having kittens about this since I joined back in February.  I've been using the black tablecloths from the Dollar Store (got the idea from a member here) but when they're up, it's so claustrophobic in there.  And then when the sun comes up it's still pitch black.

My landlord came over and set screws at the end of the windows closest to the front seat, and at the ends of the back windows.  And also one on each end of the hatch window.  Then he strung a length of that white, silky twine stuff from screw to screw.  All I have to do now is take a sari, fold it in half the short way and drape it halfway over the string and then pull it up and hook it onto one of the clotheshanger hooks that's midway between the two windows.  We already tried it and it works great.  When the sun comes up I'll get a beautiful golden light in there because the saris I'm using are in shades of gold, orange and yellow.   Between the dark tint of the windows and the material doubled, it's not going to be easy to see in.  I think I'm going to be very happy with this.

Went to drive to the lake to take out trash and found the road to the lake was closed. Came back to camp to check the news for the reason why. They are closing the entire NFS forest region to camping starting Wednesday, both Kaibab and Coconino Forest. There goes my summer camping plans to stay in the Flagstaff area down the drain. Looks like time to head into Oregon and then on up to Washington state. Not looking forward to that long drive but I do need to head north to stay cooler. I will have to consult friends to find the easiest route there with the fewest steep passes to climb. I have 2 kits to cut and package and then I will start loading the car up for departing tomorrow. I would not have known about the closure today if I had not decided to take out the trash this afternoon. No rangers have stopped by but then again it did not hit the news stations until about an hour ago. Not even a sign posted saying why the road is closed. But as there is a paid campground at the lake they must have given those people advance notice to leave.

Highway 95 through western NV is a steady climb & nothing too steep, leaves you at Steens Mountain area in eastern OR. Easy stop off partway at the Miller rest area and some options to stop at casinos along the way.

Also highway 395 thru eastern Cali but not sure if those forest camps will be open.
