I’m feeling for you Maki. My little brother has non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His bone marrow transplant had been put off almost a year because of Covid. He’s doing some better now but none of the family can come in to see him, only his wife. He is at home but there’s quarantine the signs up everywhere. Because they had to take his immune system down as low as it could go to do the transplant. Covid would be a extreme risk. It’s amazing what they can do these days. Not too many years ago that diagnosis was very fatal. But with the technologies they have they are coming close to curing some of these lymphoma’s and leukemia’s. Remissions are getting longer and longer. I just whispered a prayer for your son and I will continue to remember him. Blessings on you too.

Maki, so sorry to hear this ... and I think sometimes it is the mothers who are told last. My son waited a long time to tell me he was having a kidney removed due to a tumor. Others in my family knew first but were pledged not to tell me... he just didn't want me to worry, and he wanted to tell me himself when he felt strong enough to do so. I hope your son gets the best treatments and will recover.

Also Nature Lover - I hope your brother recovers as well.

Prayers for both men!!

I went to the trailer repair/maintenance class yesterday and learned a bit about electricity and all the other things that need to be watched for. The man who taught the class also teaches these things at the college in Yreka. We got a very condensed version along with a few electrical meters to take home with us.

Yes, I'm warm enough, so long as I keep going to get more propane for this trailer. My plan for today is to stay inside. There was some sun... but I didn't see much of it.

Children here are again told to stay home from school because someone came to school and exposed everyone to a dreaded illness. I think that word is off-topic in this thread now. My granddaughter likes to spend a lot of time with me, normally, and today isn't understanding why I won't let her in. I feel mean, but I think I'd like to be alone a while.

Sometime during the evacuation I developed a case of osteoarthritis (painful knees) and had to have shots in them. That seems to be wearing off now. I can either stop walking/hiking or go get more shots. Choices!

It's winter when I need a sweatshirt over my t-shirt in the mornings to go outside in comfort.

Freelander stay where you are for another 3 months and you will know what winter is. LOL Highdesertranger

The desert can be cold enough to need a sweatshirt in the morning even in the summer.

Really it seems to me Southeast Utah has been warmer than usual at Lake Powell anyway. Most days are 50s and 60s nights are right around freezing, only a few in the 20s and several in the upper 30s and 40s. Mostly sunny days with at least a couple calm days a week. We have had a couple hours each day where walking outside is really pleasant in a light coat or heavy shirt.

I didn’t take the time to read a lot of threads and catch up but I read this one. I hate to tell all my friends out there that it was 82° and sunny in South Florida today and it was beautiful. It’s 77° here now as I sit in my van YES I am back at home in my van and loving it the vans a total wreck from when I was sick I’ve got lots of laundry laying around to do I found that I have some visitors: ants have invaded the place and I found some rotten potatoes. I got a couple of days of work ahead of me to get this thing back in shape. But I am out of the rehab walking full weight on both feet but I have to wear a protective boot on the one that was operated on. I don’t see the surgeon again for three weeks then it’s special shoes. But I am so happy to be out of the rehab and into The van. I’m at a Cracker Barrel tonight had a great meal here and they are such generous folks with having a special parking lot for we nomads. Support them if you can.

Welcome home, ants and all. Nothing in the world like your own bed with your own blankie(s). Don't be in a hurry to get back to running marathons, and do exactly what your doc/therapist tells you to do.

Too warm in C. FL today!

I love staying at CBs...it is such a luxery to know breakfast will be ready when I roll out of bed. I usually buy something useful for camping at their store.

I have never been to a Cracker Barrel, they are not around where I was living and not around where I have been camping this last 8 months.
