I have been MIA for some time now   Long post to follow...

Nature Lover, you are going through some trying times for sure.  I hope everything works out the best for you.

I finally left the house the first part of December.  Freezing temps (16 degrees) in Marfa TX broke a water line fitting so was not off to a good start.  Limped it along to YARC camp where I got a new fitting installed.  I was headed to Parker and the tread came off a rear tire (2016 date code) and jammed between the spring and brake backing plate.  Had to call roadside assistance to bail me out as I had no way to cut the steel belts to get it off.  I ordered new tires in Lake Havasu and had to wait over a week for them to get delivered.  I really don't like having a spare so didn't do and driving after limping back to Q.  Four new BF Goodrich A/T KO2's installed and the best 2016 tire in the spare rack.

One of my roof solar panels had the glue on the diode junction box came loose and the buss to the panel broke, not repairable.  Maki was kind enough to get the old Velcro off for me.  Man, was that stuff on there.  Ordered tow new SunPower panels and installed them with Eternabond tape.  Maybe it will be easier to get off if the need arises.  Great to have 400 watts of solar during these Winter months.

The van is certainly the worse for wear as sitting up unloved for two years in the Texas weather has not been kind to it.  Paint has started peeling and it is starting to look like a derelict.  I may have to go back to Texas to get it painted as emptying the van into a storage unit, moving into a hotel and renting a car for probably a month doesn't sound good.  At least at the house I won't have all these added expenses in what has already started out to be an expensive year  :dodgy:  I am probably going to wait until March if it doesn't get too het here first and the weather is usually pleasant at home then.

Enough of my woes.  I have been enjoying YARC camp!  Meeting some of the people from the forum has been nice.

See ya'll down the road!

I'm coming to YARC camp tomorrow. Hope time all of you, and see friends I already met again.

See ya tomorrow

Welcome back b and c. I wondered where you were. You know we have a bank in Pennsylvania called PNC. They also sponsor the stadium for the Pittsburgh pirates so it’s PNC stadium. I think it’s neat that they have windows above the urinals in the men’s room so you can PNC.

Welcome back, Brian... so happy you got to spend time at YARC camp and sorry you've had so many repairs to deal with. Good that you're no longer tied to one spot in Texas.

Today was a rainy day. Tomorrow should be sunny again and then I'll get a week of rainy days according to the weather app. I've decided that rainy days are a sign I should stay home, but I've also been told that my property is scheduled for cleaning up this week (massive burnt junk to be hauled off by the county) so I might want to be there to see the events unfold. They're also supposed to demolish the old carport because I just want to start over rather than try to repair it.

Granddaughter hasn't been back, and now I'm missing her. They went into Yreka yesterday for a doctor' appointment. That's a two hour drive each way. They always go shopping before they come home and so ... gone all day. Their son stayed here. I went to check in on him... walked outside and their cat was crying nonstop under the jeep... I got him inside... I guess he got hungry. That was last night. Today it has been so peaceful all day long...

And oh, yesterday something exciting happened for me. A RV repairman from Yreka knocked on my door. He'd been hired by the Community Center to help all the fire survivors living in trailers. So I told him about the Dometic refrigerator that has never worked... 4 men already tried and failed... and he checked it out and found a wire that had been cut. Guess what... it works now! He's coming back next week to work on my holding tank drains or something like that. Making my life easier. There's going to be a class I can take to learn more about trailer maintenance... and some winter weatherization is planned.

I feel very blessed. I could not ask for a better community to be in to recover from a disastrous forest fire. The tribe loaned me a nice new trailer, community center is helping with propane and the repairman ... their money comes from grants and donations from places like the United Way and Ford Foundation... and the tribe also wants to help with propane. FEMA will probably pay for the space rent... I just have to submit receipts showing I've already spent what they gave me before (1300 dollars) for temporary housing expenses. I'm feeling very well taken care of right now.

Travelaround that is great news about the fridge repair and some winerization. Hopefully you can get that washing machine working too.

Weather here in Quartzsite is variable. Some sun, some clouds, somtimes strong wind. There is also be some rain in the forecast but not enough to cause any worries about flooding in the washes. But as the area is in real need of rain as a visitor I will not be rude and complain about it.

Tbis morning people are out and about on walks and town is most likely going to be crowded wiith the gem and mineral shows goung on. I would love to go and visit them but I am staying sensible and just doing essential trips for things like hardware items for the build, groceries, laundry and mail. I did get my hair cut short last week so now it is easier to wash at my own campsite. Not a great haircut but it will do for now.

I need to get back to making some inventory for my Etsy store. Good sized ordervfrom a repeat customer came in this morning but I am out of stock on one item so that is the kick in the rear I needed to fire up my cutting machine today or tomorrow so I can ship on Monday. My new generator wil come in handy as I dont have to worry about my battery getting to low on these partly cloudy days. I have enough power even on cloudy days for light, heat fridge and phone, tablet. But not enough to do a long day's work for my craft product business. I am grateful that there have been decent sales t his month. Waking up to find that money for groceries and gas for the car and generator and heating fuel for the week has been covered is a great feeling. The heating fuel I will buy next trip into town, 2 gallons of diesel will last quite a few weeks as I do still have a gallon or more some in the tank under the counter.

I might move over to the Dome Rock BLM site for a week or two next month as yhere is a rally there for another forum I have belonged to for several years. But after that I will likely go to BLM land south so I can go into Los Algodones to see a dentist.

Maki is that the egg rally? When is it? My sis is here with her Casita and going bonkers with questions.

yes it is one of the many egg rallies in the country, this is the Quartzsite one. Feb 8 thru 14th but some people will arrive early. It won't be hard to spot a big field full of white egg shaped trailers. If I go mine will be shaped like the carton the eggs come in

Here is the google map location as posted on the fiberglassrv forum

I saw a few out there the other day. Hope sis can stay long enough for it. Thanks’

Just came across Towering Inferno on the internet, so I'm going to watch it. Saw it in the movie theater when I was something like 12 years old, have never forgotten it. This will be my second time watching it.

Moving into this high rise apartment, on the 15th floor, one of the first things I did was look up information on what to do in a highrise if there is a fire. Basically, it's safer to stay in the apartment than it is to try to get out of the building.

Oh crap, the electric panel just blew. I better go back to watching!

Beware of too many disaster movies during a pandemic when your nerves are already jangled. But towering inferno was pretty good. My fave disaster movie is volcano (stars pierce brosnan) followed by san andreus (stars the rock).

Started a new job that's 100% remote and I will be able to work it from any state - my campervan. Unfortunately it's like any other job where some coworkers are total A$$holes [emoji19]

Read some really disrespectful/rude/hateful comments in a sub-thread, putting down other coworkers who aren't as computers skilled or just wanted to be heard (in a feedback meeting) on what they felt could be better in training. [emoji849]

I muted the sub thread notifications so I don't get any more. But when we went back to our normal training meeting I forgot my mute button was not turned on and did a sarcastic mini laugh when a couple of those same people said it was such a great meeting. Oops [emoji28]

I did privately message the trainer with an apology and explained I read some not so nice comments in a different thread. She was super nice about it.

Darn it, someone moved in across the wash outside the door on my trailler. I was so enjoying tne lack of close neighbors who could see into my home. Guess I will need to sew the daylight view out blind that I cut to fit the w indow in that door.

I need to get some Etsy inventory mmade so I can put my cutting macvhine away and set up my sewing machine on the desk. I have a couple of days worth of sewing tasks to tackle all related to my trailer or my popup shelter. Not into hobby sewing at present but maybe someday I will consider doing it again. I had a passion for sewing as a kid and in my 20s.

What are egg rallies? At our family reunion there could be about 50 people sitting in a circle and we throw raw eggs back-and-forth to each other. Not at each other but to each other and we all count out loud the number of tosses it doesn’t break. Sometimes over 100. it’s always fun when one breaks. But I don’t think I ever heard of an egg rally.

I I think I figured it out. Fiberglass trailers? I got the yolk.

I'm surrounded by snow - we got 10 to 15 inches. Snow falls off the trees onto my trailer and sometimes the whole trailer shakes.

Yesterday I had to go get propane. I'd run out and was using an electric heater which never did get the trailer warmed very well. The propane furnace works much better and now I can cook again.

After the propane run and post office (where I stepped into a puddle and got shoes wet) and then the store... I was so happy to come home and rest.

I have no plans for today.

It was 19 deg. the other night and we got 5" of snow here in Sunny Southeast Arizona.

Hello fellow nomads. I was happy to get out of this rehab hospital yesterday for a doctors appointment. Bright blue skies and 68° darn it’s a shame that you guys in Arizona - now I feel so bad for you ( not.)

I’m in the market for renting a knee walker anybody have experience with these things? Like what is a Brand or type to avoid etc. I’m hoping that Medicare will cover part of it at least. I run out of Medicare benefits next Wednesday morning and so I’m out of here whether I’m ready or not here I come.

God bless every nomad whether they are snowed in or by a sunny beach like I am. After I said that I bet many of you will call me a sunny beach or something like that.

Make sure you are aware of how the Medicare system works before you leave so you can get help if you need it.
