Am planning my wedding vow renewal for my parents (53 years together) and compiling through their playlist. It's a mix of trop rock and 60s love songs

CCR brings back memories of muscle cars and young love.

ELP brings back fewer memories, too many altered states back then :) "In the Beginning" is all time ELP fav tho.

Brock Berrigan "Celebration Song" brought a chuckle and had me moving a bit, I like it. The one NSFW lyric line had me LOL'ing hard.

Townes Van Zandt "Lungs"

Imo, his gift as a poet is as well demonstrated here as any.

Well, won't you lend your lungs to me?
Mine are collapsing
Plant my feet and bitterly breathe
Up the time that's passing.
Breath I'll take and breath I'll give
Pray the day ain't poison
Stand among the ones that live
In lonely indecision.

Fingers walk the darkness down
Mind is on the midnight
Gather up the gold you've found
You fool, it's only moonlight.
If you try to take it home
Your hands will turn to butter
You better leave this dream alone
Try to find another.

Salvation sat and crossed herself
Called the devil partner
Wisdom burned upon a shelf
Who'll kill the raging cancer
Seal the river at its mouth
Take the water prisoner
Fill the sky with screams and cries
Bathe in fiery answers

Jesus was an only son
And love his only concept
Strangers cry in foreign tongues
And dirty up the doorstep
And I for one, and you for two
Ai'nt got the time for outside
Just keep your injured looks to you
We'll tell the world we tried

An eco-ballad from Tony Joe White

"Closer To The Truth"

Strong instinct for survival
Romantically insane
Moving soft along the edge of time
Like a panther in the rain

Manipulated rebels
With a total disregard for the rules
When pride comes tumbling off the great white stallion
You move closer to the truth

And the search continues for the meaning
They build the cathedrals high
But we keep our weapons ready
Looming dark against the sky

They're taking down the rain forest
Changing it to a room without a view
And the big trees fall like dominoes
And we move closer
The eagle watches from the mountain
As the warriors turn into fools
And the dice are thrown on sacred ground
And they move closer to the truth

And who's gonna tell the children
How the rivers used to flow cystal blue
And we keep leaving scars on Mother Earth
And moving closer to the truth

And now for something completely different. Perfect for watching the sun fall behind the peaks as the unique singing insects raise their voices, the ravens gronk their way home, and the crickets provide the ceaseless backdrop...

The Nymph's Lament

From Monteverdi - Madrigals of Love and War

(tucks her operatic appreciation away and falls in line...)

I love this project!

@Qxxx
First time I viewed Rachel Price I instantly fell in love with her. Great cover

@SheketEchad
I love so many different types of music but classical doesn't move me like other types, I've tried.
But, having lived up, down and all around Hwy 61, I'll see your Ken Tucker and raise you one

Calvin Russell "Crossroads"

I'm standing at the crossroads
There are many roads to take
But I stand here so silently
For fear of a mistake.

One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
They all look the same.

I've travelled many roads
And not all of them where good
The foolish ones taught more to me
Than the wise ones ever could.

One path leads to sacrifice
One path leads to shame
One path leads to freedom
They all look the same.

There were roads I never travelled
There were turns I did not take
There were mysteries I could not unravel
Leaving you was my only mistake.

So I'm standing at the crossroads
Imprisoned by this doubt
As if by doing nothing
I might find my way out.

One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
But they all look the same.

There were roads I never travelled
There were turns that I did not take
There were mysteries that I left unravelled
Leaving you was my only mistake.

Short form,
"Yes there are two paths you can go by,
but the long run,
there's still time to change the road you're on".

Really?...lol

@MaTaLa. Then obviously you've never crossed the Mississippi in heavy lowland fog at sunrise with Flight of the Valkyries blasting, lol. I love all music, particularly cello, violin and bass with great piano. About the only thing I can't connect with is newer rap, unless I'm in dance mode; then it can be passable.

These guys do a great job with that small combo sound. I love their passion and emotion when playing, as they look like I feel when I'm engrossed in music.
