The box you see in the third picture is the generator housing. I wish it was in another place, then I would have a lot usable space.

I see a lot of discoloration on the ceiling above the cab. Were you going to rip that open too?
While it is open...do you plan to put in insulation?

I am thinking once I get the whole thing open, that will be the time to do all the wiring I want and insulation the way I want it.

I realize it is soooooo easy to plan this while watching someone else doing the work. Just wondering what your longer term plan is for the RV. Keep those pictures coming..I .look every day for update!

The discoloration you see is dirt and glue residue from a trim piece that I took down, I just havn`t cleaned it up yet.
There is a little water damage at the front edge of the roof on the inside, but its in decent condition, so I am not going to mess with it.
I will be replacing all of the old insulation that was there, and adding more in places that need it or didn`t have any

I only have the weekends to work on the rv, so I try and do as much as I can. But it also depends on the needed supply`s and the funds to buy the needed supply`s. I`m not in a hurry, because once the over cab bed area is done I still have the rest of the interior fix (as needed) or upgrade. So there is much more to come.

The only thing that would really slow me down would be the cold weather. We normally have snow by now, but so far we have been getting a lot of rain.

The rebuild is looking good!

The destruction part of such an effort can be disheartening at times. Thoughts of; 'When will this end!', keep running though your mind.

Make sure the weep holes in the sliding window tracks are draining water. That's where water may be coming in at. During a heavy rain, stand outside and watch where the water runs off the roof and down the sides. You may have to attach some alum angle on the roof to divert the run off to a different point. No holes need to be drilled, attach them using a strong double sided tape.

I'm working on a project now using marine grade plywood. Ripping the sheets down to 1x4 dimensions and using them as framing material. Then attaching them together using glue and pocket screws. A couple of sheets of plywood gives me a lot of framing material that's dimensionally stable.

A good track saw for cutting down sheet goods is handy to have as well.

Focus and finish!
Focus and finish!

Today I removed the over the cab wood bed frame. Some of the wood needs to be replaced, and I am going to modify the original design
a little. I also got all of the old staples removed from the wall mounted frame board. So once I pick up the needed lumber next week I can
start the rebuilding process.

Wood frame removed.

All cleaned up and waiting for the rebuild to begin.

Here is the wood bed frame.

This is the pile of trim pieces that were removed. Some are in good shape, others are completely rotted away, but will be used as
a template to make new ones.

Just a couple of pictures to show how vintage my rv is.

The microwave and range hood will be replaced.

You're doing a wonderful job so far.

IIWM, I'd label the trim pieces NOW as to where they came from. Putting back the new panels is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Better that you have a bit of a map than not!!

I thought of that AFTER I had most of them removed.

Time for another weekend update.

I got the lower part of the bed frame in and almost completely screwed in place.
I had to cut the bed frame in half to get it in. There just was not enough room to get it in place in one piece.
I redesigned the bed platform a little, the original design had the center part that would slide in giving you more head
room to enter the rv from the cab area, Which is not needed, and newer rv`s are not like this, so I made the bed frame
one whole solid piece.

After looking at some of the pictures, I can see a couple of places that I am going to make some changes
in the bracing, next weekend.

Weekend update time.

I got the bed platform finished

Then I started working on the side walls, and got them done.

This is what the original side wall pieces looked like once I got them removed.

Now I just need to figure out how I`m going to rebuild the area around the front windows ?, and I need to
fix the wiring for the front clearance lights.

That`s it for this weekend, more to come next weekend.

Lookin' good....
Are those front windows fogged or is it snowing?

Are you replacing the marker lights too or just the wires?

The windows are very dirty, and it was raining a little so I had the door closed, so the windows started to fog up.

I do want to replace the marker lights, some of them are corroded pretty bad inside.

Good idea , seal 'em up good !
The wiring is a piece of pie...(I know , it's supposed to be cake but I like pie !)

Weekend Update

I started working on the front window panels this weekend. Both of the original window panels had heavy water damage, but I took the best one and removed the vinyl covering and used it for a template

This is one of the original window panels.
rv%20001_zps0meinfnt.jpg

Here are the new window panels I made. The one on the left is the first window panel I made. On the right window panel I made a few
changes and it fit better. When I get some more wood I will remake the left window panel so it fits better and closes the gap at the bottom a little better.

Next I started working on the headliner.

This is the original headliner.
rv%20007_zpsrmgsjuss.jpg

Now because I made the over cab bed one piece like most newer rv`s, I need to make a new solid one piece headliner, so I
used the original head liner to at least give me an outline to start from, and let me tell you what a pain in the butt it is to try and
hold the new headliner in place while you try and mark the places it needs to be trimmed and cut to fit.
rv%20010_zpstml1ktus.jpg

That`s it for this weekend.

If you have any extra pine or?? cut some sticks about 1/2x3/4or1or 2" x a couple inches longer than the distance from bed to ceiling and squeeze them in between for those extra hands you don't have.
The width will change how strong they hold. Ply would work too.

Weekend update.

Not much of an update for this weekend. I did work on the headliner, and I almost have it done
The next month is going to be a little slow, I have some bills coming due and a couple of other expenses that I need to take care of.

I do plan on getting some wood next weekend so I can remake the panels that go around the front windows, and I am going to order
some vinyl to cover the window panels and the headliner.

Weekend update

Winter has finally hit, temps in the mid 20s and snow, wind and rain. Its just to cold to be outside working for long periods of time.
I have ordered some vinyl and some new interior lights. I still need to order some closed cell foam, but after searching for what I need,
I`m finding that its quite expensive per yard for what it is.

The rebuild is far from over, its just that winter is slowing things down quite a bit right now.
As soon as the weather warms up a little, I will be back at it.

Weekend update.

Its been really cold here, the temperature has been any were from 0 to 28 degrees the past week and a half.
I did order the new vinyl, and it should be here the middle of next week. I also ordered five new interior lights, and I got those Friday.
I still need to order some closed cell foam that goes under the vinyl, but its some expensive stuff, so I will probably wait until the first of
next month. I also need to get some more wood.

I may not be able to work on the rv right now, but I`m trying to get the things I need in the mean time, so when the weather warms up I can jump back into it and keep going.

These are the lights I bought on ebay, five lights for just under $28.00 dollars and free shipping.

And the cold weather.
