Yesterday we had a summer rain storm come through, it was raining buckets and high winds, it lasted about
an hour and a half. So today I checked the over cab bed area and there was no water anywhere.

I hope that is a good sign, and it stays that way.

When I bought my rv, the previous owners told me that they had replaced the hot water heater, but forgot
to drain it before winter, and this is what happened.

Needless to say, I will need to replace the hot water heater.

So, please remember to drain your hot water heater before the freezing weather hits your area, or it could
be an expensive mistake.

Had the same exact thing happen to the water heater in my TT. Had to replace the aluminum tank because it had froze and burst before I got it.
If you're living in it full time and keep the pilot lit and the heater in use, you should not have any trouble. Mine survived at least two weeks of minus 15 degrees at night, with the day temps never even getting up to freezing.
If you're going to store it during winter, you had better drain and blow it out with air pressure.

I was finally able to get some wood and finish the bed frame.
Gone is the very poorly built factory bed frame that was made out of cheap 1x1 and 2x2 wood.
the bed frame I built is made from 2x4`s and has extra supports added were there was none before.

Once I receive my new water pump and get the new pex water line installed, there
is plywood that goes on top of the bed frame, and then the mattress.

I did a little more work on the bed area today.
I cut and fit the plywood base for the mattress, and because I had to cut two separate pieces of
plywood, I had to add two more braces in the middle so the plywood base would not sag in the middle.

Once I get the water pump and pex lines installed, I see two more places were I`m going to add braces
for a little extra support.

I started working on the water system, I pulled the water tank out to clean it and flush it out, and found that the tank had an internal strainer on the outlet side of the tank, and it was doing a good job of trapping all kinds of crap in the tank.
I removed that strainer and flushed out the tank. I have an external strainer that I`m installing before the pump inlet.

I spent a lot of time cleaning up the area around the water tank and moving some wiring.
I also relocated the water pump to the back side of the water tank.
The factory location was a bad spot that did not allow for proper hook up.

The part that sucks, is that I live in a small farm town, there are two hardware/building supply stores here, and when I need a fitting
there selection of pex/sharkbite fittings that I need are always out of stock.

So next weekend I will have to make a trip to home depot to get what I need.

This is the strainer that was in the water tank, it had all kinds of crap trapped in the tank

The new water pump/strainer and pex water line that I have put together so far. Its not very much, but its a start.
Once I get the fittings I need from home depot, I will continue the process.

By the time you finish up this project you are gonna be READY to hit that mattress...
Awesome work, Shadow!  I mean it.

Cheers,
Charlotte

The progress never stops. Yup, You'll be ready for that bed. Looking good.  :)

I am already ready for the mattress, it seems like a never ending project.
BUT, it will be better than it was from the factory when I`m done.

I fully expect to still have a long list of projects even after I hit the road....I am sure you do too.

Others here have said that they never stopped working on the project.

I hope to have most thing done before I start using my rv next summer (I hope), but I know there
will always be something that needs to be done somewhere.

Weekend Update.

I got more work done on the water system, but as always, I ran out of fittings again.
No matter how much I try to guess what I`m going to need, I always seem to come up short.

I have everything hooked up except for the toilet and the city water hook up.
I will also be ordering a new hot water heater in the next few days.

here is all of the old water line that I have removed and replaced so far.

the water lines hooked up.

The screws coming out of the side of the water tank are for tank sensor wires.

The most important fitting of them all, the adaptor from the old style water line to the new pex water line.

haha, I bet when you are done you will have a few left over. highdesertranger

I can`t do any more work on the water system until I get some more fittings, so I decided to start working on the stove.
Its very dirty and needs a thorough cleaning. I disconnected it and removed it from the rv and brought it into the shop were
I could disassemble parts of it to make it easier to clean.

This is what it looks like with the stove removed from the rv.

The top area is dirty and needs a good cleaning, there is also some peeling paint,
but I`m not real concerned about that, I just want it cleaner than it it now.

The oven appears to be more dusty than it is dirty, almost like the oven hasn`t been
used at all. If the oven was used, it wasn`t very much.

Once I get it cleaned up I will post up some more pictures.
