Has anybody tried the folding toast maker on a propane stove? I was wondering if there was any funny taste left on the toast from the fuel.... I have seen them used in camping over a wood fire, anywho it's one of the toys I have wanted but figured I would wait for input from others.

I have one. It is OK. No after taste as far as I am concerned. I do however find it just as easy to make the toast in a dry cast iron skillet. Or perhaps butter the bread on both sides and grill it.

hey Bri thanks, that one looks good, and I can think of other things to cook with it! excellent!

Mike, I currently grill my toast as I just didn't want to buy a item just to make toast, but I do enjoy a slice or two, now and then, ......

thanks Pikachu, that is the one I have seen before, it folds up pretty good, I was more curious about whether the bread absorbed any propane taste...

thanks all

Toast with butter & peanut butter is something that brings back my childhood. I haven't had that in ages! My Mom used to make that for us kids that once in a while as a snack. It's absolutely delicious! I may make some tonight.

I totally forgot about that too! Thanks for the reminder.

Wow I never had butter and Peanut butter, I have have butter and Jelly! lol OK now I must get me a toasty thingamabobber! I'll check Wally world today, and I am still going to order the one Bri posted as I think that can be used for other things for cooking.....LOL I'll do a review of each! Toast and Jelly sounds so good to this am breakfast....

One of my favorite thing to do...not from my home growing up but from the kids I hung with in Vermont as a teenager...they were dirt poor but they would take white bread and margarine and fry slices in the fry pan as Mike mentioned....then put on a plate with Karo syrup on it....I know, I know...absolutely zero food value but if one were to tweak that, to nice whole grain bread, real butter and real maple syrup...OMG! I'm having that for breakfast today!!!!!!
Bri

I was reading through this thread and a thought came to mind. Has anyone tried toasting bread with one of those handheld torches? the ones with the small propane bottles. seems like you could toast bread, rolls, heat and toast up a hotdogs.
