ENOUGH!! I am sick and tired of having my Facebook spammed with mean-spirited, tasteless, obnoxious political propaganda. No one has ever, EVER, been swayed in their views by nasty, biased, ugly jokes or cherry-picked "facts" on Facebook. I have friends all over the political  and religious and social spectrum, and I  have had enough. From now until November, I am hiding all political junk from my page, and I am unfollowing especially egregious posters until November.

Oh, boy, I love autofill. That should be "eff'ing limit". I did not edit carefully enough. The edit option would not let me correct it.

One of many reasons I deleted my Facebook and never looked back.

I hear you, even people posting regarding "my candidate", keep posting ridiculous cherry picked shit. So fucking over it!!

I use a fake name and my "friends" are all of 20 people I used to know from a (now defunct) like minded forum. I keep the account to look up sites I want to visit, and check specials at local venues. Other than that I view it as a time suck.

It's been my experience that even well thought out arguments with easily verifiable and unassailable facts and figures don't sway people who are committed to their views, so I rarely even bother anymore. As I get older I find that I care a whole lot less about whether or not people agree with me.

As far as Facebook goes, I mostly just skim the feed and only look closer if something catches my eye. I find that it's far too convenient a method of keeping in touch with people to walk away from.

Ditto!  I never dig very deep, just skim the newest stuff that appears on my timeline.
If it weren't for FB, I'd completely lose touch with some old friends from decades ago.

imo, always a good idea to keep in touch with friends around the county.  No telling when you might be on a road trip across the US and need a couch to sleep on or a hot shower.  :D  On a serious note, though, it's nice to have old friends to visit when traveling.

Facebook is the only way I have found of reliably keeping in touch with old co-workers, friends, family, and acquaintances we meet on the road. If it could be kept chatty and social, it would be nearly perfect. But there are always the ones who are on a mission from The Universe and consider it their own, personal soapbox. These people will often post the most disgusting things.

I have chosen to remain Facebook free.

My sister joined after a divorce and has derived some comfort from it as she catches up with long lost friends. She said that every now and then someone would ask about me and I told her to tell them I was antisocial and not to give out ANY of my information. What a surprise when I got a phone call from someone that I haven't heard from in 30 years who said he was going to be passing through and wanted to catch up with me. Not knowing what to say I asked "When?" and got the answer "TOMORROW"! HA!!! He then said "Oh yeah, do you have a spare room WE can stay in?" Needless to say Sis got a lesson on what NO INFORMATION means from me.

Guy
DH is a social butterfly. He loves people and loves to hear from them, and hands out cards with my FB address on them like candy. He is too lazy to keep up his own page so he sends everyone to mine. Then, he wants a daily report on what everyone is doing. I know that you won't believe this of my charming self, but I am just not fond of people in general. I prefer my books and my privacy. If I were ever alone, I would tink about closing my FB page. We have a group text thread for immediate family and I keep in touch with a few special friends by text. There are times that I  would even like DH to get lost.

I have unfriended most of my so called friends for this exact reason. Too much political crap in both parties. I only keep family Facebook friends. I can't believe the extreme hatred in some political Facebook posts. Shouldn't we all try to get along. Some people think we should all be the same with all the same views. How boring would that be. Cookie cutter people.

I have limited presence (sp??) on FB ... only to connect with a few friends and family. I had to block my SIL because she posts about a million times a day ... but I do stay with FB cause it's easier to connect with my techno family. Heaven forbid someone should actually pick up the phone and make a call tho, tweeks my nerves ...

I absolutely do not respond to political and religious stuff ... that's all too personal. Yea, VanCamper it's amazing the hatred there is with such venom. yuck

You would not believe some of the viciousness I see from what I thought were nice, reasonable people. Then again, if you have had to unfriendly so many people, maybe you would.

I enjoy my Facebook feed... my grandkids are there!

Thats why I keep a FB page too....to keep in touch with family and friends...I dont live close to them anymore.......Pretty hard to unfriend family no matter what they say

Facebook is an interesting study in sociology for sure. I mostly post humor, trip pics, etc but have been dumped by several "friends" over the years for reasons I don't know. I have also dumped a few people for various reasons. One friend only seemed to want me to like his business site and kept sending me the invite to like his business multiple times. He seems to have no other use for FB other than as a business tool. The "like" system bothers me too and I wish I could turn it off for my page. I could go on....lol.
