I know new vehicles have a "black box" in them just like airplanes.  They can download all the data before a crash to see exactly what was going on.....how fast you were going, if you hit the brakes, if a blinker was used, was the radio on, etc.

It all comes down to money though.  All this information is being collected and used to make money.  In the case of the vehicles "black box" it  helps insurance companies deny claims which equals more money for them. Money Money Money, its ruined the world and continues to do so

It's called Capitalism.

I scrambled the password for my Facebook account when I left New Jersey and started my life on the road. Never used the website since. Sick of endless reposted memes and constant demands for birthdays and phone numbers. Other than a couple calls to old coworkers I have left behind all my old friends as well. I used to post regularly in the comment sections of political blogs but grew tired of that as well.

Once I'm no longer endlessly bored (at work in front of a computer), I'll probably do the same.  Give my spare email address to anyone who wants to stay in touch and happily log off.

I'm pretty sure theres a massive super computer somewhere set up to operate automatically to collect all kinds of information .
Like almost every human on the planet has a file folder that contains there info thats collected from the internet system , thats why I got off Facebook , its pretty creepy the way there always trying to get you to tag photos plus them facial reconition squares on everybodys faces.
I don't remember all the types of info they collect because so many different types but there's cameras everyhere and there collecting your face print through facial reconition technology , there also collecting eye retna prints, your voice prints  , body movement patterns ( everybody has there own little quirks and unique walks or struts )
There collecting info through the smart phones too , all the different technologys are connected to work together to collect info and bounce it all around from cameras and sensors to smart refridgerators and smart meters and such all the way back to the main data collection agency or agencys.
And here's something to think about ,, I use to have a 1988 Chevy G30  van and it had a computer the size of a VCR tape ,,,,,,, a 2008 vans computer is twice as big , we all know that computers keep getting smaller and smaller so why is the computer so much bigger?
That computer is probably capable of alot more then just operating the vehicles systems.

Computers can collect data, but they don't really have brains. I set off alarms on the censoring program at work busy I kept trying to do a search involving "pot." I was looking for a self-watering African violet pot.

Yup, it's amazing how interconnected everything is. In learning to make bread I was on a recipe site. I got a pop up that said my niece (who has a different married name than mine), also used the site. How they connected that I don't know. I have never even met my niece - don't email her, she's not a FB friend. The only possible thing I can think of is that I mentioned her in an email - which means that emails are scanned for data too.

Have you ever wondered about Google ? Here is a (supposedly) private corporation that has access to every single part of your life, right down to sending camera equipped cars down every major street in the world to chart every residence. How useful THAT would be in the event of a global conflict. Add  that to all the other information they are capable of collecting. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think it has a lot more behind it than just targeting consumers for ad placement.

What'sthat ancestry site they advertise on tv? It could be someone neither you nor your niece knows filling in your personal info and connections.

You know what...I am 100% certain that there is nothing in my life that is that important enough to anyone to set up a big secret file for. I am not rich enough nor anywhere near interesting enough. Most likely, neither are most of the rest of this forum.

Weren't y'all paing attention from the get go...WorldWideWeb!

But it is kind of flattering to think that our dear Unkle Sammy cares enough to have us followed by  gzillion dollar satellite to keep track of us.  :p

I have faith that if I am ever lost, all I have to do is pull out a deck of cards, and start a game of solitaire.  Soon Seal Team 6 will be there telling me to put the red 3 on the black 4.

I'm proud to be old school now a days. I have a flip phone that doesn't butt dial anyone or give information about me when I enter a store.

I don't have a tablet, I love to be able to use 2 hands to type on my laptop and adjust the screen to the angle I want. I have no need for a laptop that can become a tablet, why pay more for something I don't want to begin with.

I don't FB, Tweet, Instagram or use any of the other apps. I can't stand people that keep giving priority to their smartphone over us dumb humans.

Above all I get very  when a program I use frequently changes on me. Again old school, If It's Not Broken Don't Fix It!!!!!!!!!!!! damn it!!!!!!!!

I have a buddy who works for a company that designs and markets the software that tracks us, every single click we make.  It's used primarily to market "stuff" to us, but can be used for other purposes if anyone (who can gain access) decides they'd like to.  I'm not paranoid... but I do understand that nothing we do online is private, absolutely nothing.  Not really an issue for me since my life is pretty bland, but still not thrilled that I get marketed to constantly.

Google NSA headquarters - the size of 10 shopping malls . I'm pretty sure Uncle Sam is very proficient in writing software. Personally I don't care that much - I've never seen the inside of a court room . However , there are things that concern me. I have a leather shop doing primarily work for motorcycle clubs . Almost as soon as I started doing the work I got casual visits from law enforcement . In one instance aState officer dropped by with a dog - said he needed the leash repaired and could he take the dog off the leash. The dog went to work sniffing out the shop. Again , I don't care . I haven't even had a beer in a quarter century . Also at that time all the work I did for the state police stopped.
So no, the NSA has nothing I care about , but it's disconcerting how easy it is to get on watch lists .

If you are on line and using any search engine or shopping on any retail site, you better have no expectation of privacy.  As a test I did a search on Amazon for 8mm film projector at 4:42 am.  At 6:15 am I had this ad show-up on this forum.

Notice the 8mm film projector in the ad.

Truly, there is no privacy. I commented on a Youtube investment video. I had to set up a channel so I could interact there. I gave them an alias for my account name, and it's a good thing. After that comment, I started getting spammed in that account by e-beggers, all giving links to heart-felt, tearful videos about why I should send them money. I have never responded to e-beggers. Never. Not ever. I don't know who those people really are. Maybe I need to tighten up my settings.

Oh, I need a camera also, so I can make a more convincing begging post!    :p

And while you are in a giving mood, ~~~ How about a ration of shinola for this post. ;)

Are any of you guys using windows 10 and or  Google chrome?  I swear it's like invasion of the body/mind snatchers....I fully expect to see something looking back at me from my own eyes in the mirror!   I change from one venue to another and in seconds there is a ad re: where I just was or just got to.  I'm totally ,well maybe 85%, ignorant about the internet.  I know my son really dislikes windows & likes ubunto & linux or something that sounds like that.
I don't mind the ads that are static like are on the blog pages, ads like that are o.k. to me.
It's those scrolling, moving,  talking ,flashing, singing, loud crappy music playing sumbitches that get on my very last nerve            I too get ads here that link to my recent searches on other sites, ads are annoying because my pc is slow and They mess up my you tube viewing also.
                                                     That's my story etc.   TJB

As well as  the constant exhortions to share pics of people or animals that I don't know, and the pleas that I sign stupid petitions, and the demands that I Like and Share post to prove I care about someone and read all their posts (I don't) or I am not a real friend and they know who I am, the the heartfelt pleas that I send money to someone's gofundme acct so they can pay their vet bills.
