For years I have known about catalytic converter theft and when living in Seattle was somewhat concerned it might happen to me. But I never took the time to check on what a replacement Cat unit for my vehicle would cost. So I looked it up yesterday. The cost of a catalytic converter for my car is not in the thousands like I keep seeing mentioned in various postings on the internet tales of woe.I can get a new one with the associated tube and flange for $70 to $150. One less stressor!

One of the true benefits not having it registered in California. Carb spec catalytic converters are unreasonably expensive.

Fun story about older Chinese lady escaping abusive marriage and taking up vanlife.

I guess she's been around for awhile but this was the first I ever heard of her.
To get a divorce she has to pay her husband! She seems to be handling it well though ...

We had a guy roll in between a group here and runs a generator 24 hours… at this stage of the game it’s hard to move a group of people. So I’m going to have to have a chat with the guy… already have someone confront me like the offender is part of our group… I have to admit… very hard to sleep. I get woke up at 2am I’m not going back to sleep…
So if the guys a retired cop… should he be flashing badges? I want to be respectful… but he’s got a number of people a little concerned…

I wonder if/what his reason is for running it 24? Is there something he is operating? Or is he looking for a fight? This is just me wondering. We have a VERY loud gen. too and I hate that thing when we are trying to sleep when power is out.... I was very happy when we found that my little Jackery worked at bedtime for the little bit we need then. It might be he/she needs something after bedtime. Sounds like maybe some problem solving is in order.

The looking for a fight might be something to really be careful around.

With the next few nights being in the low 40s to upper 30s I need to remember to buy a gallon of diesel fuel for my heater. I need heat this morning to get my trailer warmed up. It is a work day today, lots of hours running the vinyl cutter and packaging up what I cut. But that big order will cover the cost of going to Los Algodones and getting new prescription glasses, so very much worth the hours of work I need to put in today.

I have not noticed all that much in the way of traffic issues in Quartzsite. It is usually bad Traffic by this week in January. The big winter storm must have kept more people at home.

Still no frost snow or real cold stuff here in the Sound. Weird weather for us. But I have to many Dr stuff to drive to, so I am NOT complaining at all.
Enjoy your time with your machines and glad you got a good order. Find some good music and play it loud enough to scare away the gremlins.

So I had a good day at work today. I had the day in the 3-5 year old room and we were playing outside chasing imaginary sea monsters that sneaked up from the beach. I sent the 5-6 kids that were playing the game after the scales of the sea monster for they are magical. Of they ran and they all come back with various goodies. Except one little girl she came back yelling "teacher teacher I got his testicals." I stopped what I was doing and asked her "what did you get?" she repeated "I got his testicals! see right here and she showed me her empty but full hands and ran off to show everyone else. I turned my back to the group and laughed and told my coworkers and we all had a good laugh
She probably meant "tentacles!"

No loud music for me. I have tinnitus and loud music is not in any way pleasurable. A side effect of the work I used to do. I am a real life Rosie the Riviter. See photo below of me at work at Boeing. Gremlin infestations are another permanent side effect of that work because they live in airplanes. There is no cure or getting them out of your body once they invade. Then some of them hop off and infest every single piece of electronic and mechanical device you own. As a result you truly do have to learn how to repair stuff.

I started my work day by doing a repair on the hinges on my laptop. The plastic that covers those metal hinges was developing running cracks. So yesterday I bought some shock resistant superglue gel. Today I made a tiny stop drill hole at the end of the cracks so they would not run any further. Then I taped off the area, added a little baking soda into the small cracks for some extra strength and applied the superglue on top. A little like making a concrete mix to fix a crack in the sidewalk to keep it from getting worse. I will have to keep right cleaning up gremlin damage. It keeps things interesting or is that challenging🤣🤣
