Retired on Disability and am planning to get on the road (part-time at first) next year. I own a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan into which I've just built a simple bed platform that is 75" Long x 32" Wide, with a 4" Trifold Memory Foam Mattress. My plan is to take some trips beginning in January to see if I can do this full-time.

I have a feeling that my retirement income is not going to keep up with rising rent costs in the future so I'm very interested in everything Nomadic and am doing my due diligence right now. Would love to hear from anyone who is full-timing with any advice, tips, etc.

Welcome to the CRVL forums MinivanMurf! Some forum members have very low incomes and live well by following strict budgets and staying in boondocking sites for the legal two weeks before moving to the next one. Reading the different forum topics that interest you is one of the best ways to start learning about van dwelling. If you have any questions please feel free to post on an existing thread or start a new one. We're here to help any way we can! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hiya Murf!!!

I don't have any practical advice (I'm brand new myself - still planning, in fact), but I *did* want to tell you that ANY time you make a change in your life - especially a major change like this - being nervous is not only normal, but NECESSARY! It helps you to slow down a bit and make sure you're doing the right thing. In fact, if you weren't nervous I'd be worried for you! :)
Embrace it! Learn from it what you can and then move past it to your grand adventure!
So excited for you!!

Best of luck and HAPPY trails!
Brandy

I know you are right and it helps to know that others are out there making similar decisions. I appreciate you taking the time and best of luck on your journey as well.

I will be coming on board in 2020 also - after hearing from cheaprv living van dwellers my only apprehension is waiting to join the ranks - I cannot wait to get on my way. I am 81 in great health - my fear is only finding the tribe and I intend to stay in such close touch I cannot miss them. What a great - fulfilling life awaits us. RVBORN

RVBORN,

I love the positive vibe from you and your excitement about getting started. I am excited about making this change as well, I am just a bit
more apprehensive than I probably should be. Your comment makes me less so!  :) All my best to you in your travels, who knows, we may
cross paths down the road.
