I would have to say my binoculars are a must have for me! I love to bird-watch, and doing that is so much better with a good pair of binoculars.
It has to be my Laptop and a CD wallet full of movies. I have over 2000 DVDs and can put 132 in a CD wallet that will fit in the glove box.

Haven't been on the road. Catch me about 3/4 months I'll you know.

on my little trip recently, i bought 2 small solar yard lights. they sat in the front seat during day and stayed lit all night in van. not bad for $3.

water would probably be the biggie. after that, coffee!!!

Above and beyond the obvious things needed to survive I'd have to say the backpack I made while in the Marshall Islands. I carry many things in it that never leave it except to use them and put back in. It is the only thing I carry when I fly.
My family simply won't mess with it at all!!!

gus

I'm with Willy, I never go ANYWHERE ( ok, shower and flying) without my leatherman.

"tactical man purse" I carry this 99% of the time, the rest of the time it is within easy reach.
I would have said the pill box (with the little flapper thingies) but that's not too glamourous. (nor is the CPAP machine for sleep apnea)

A camera is something that I can't live without. At first it was going to be the laptop but if i have the camera along with, I can do the blog post anytime, any place - even at a library or rented PC. You may never get a second chance to take a picture of something special.

A close second would be the netbook. Many of the daily activities center around staying hooked up to the Internet. It's the last thing I look at before bed and the first thing I turn on when waking up in the morning.

Outside of the essentials, I'd have to go with laptop & camera.
Okay, that's TWO things, but to me, as an amateur shutterbug, the 2 are inseparable...

I like the "Tactical Man Purse" great Idea!
-AK

We used to have a big problem with how to go. Butt, with my experience in Asia I tried it their way and what a discovery that was. For some reason with the Asian squat your whole system seems lined up just right. No need of tree to lean against, stump to sit over or bucket. The only caution is to make sure you pull your pants forward a bit. We also do the wet ones butt wipes, not baby wipes. We liked the unscented ones for hunting. Can do all the same thing as the baby wipes without smelling like a baby.

My biggest problem lately has been my left hip replacement now followed by my right knee going bad. It will be replaced Sept 27. Not being able to bend it past 90 degrees relegates me to the bucket method.

One other thing. When we hunt our diet is different so we learned to use Metemucil. Wiping is cleaner and you squat for less time, do to the one push p_ _ p!

Jim
