I like their spirit!
.
Their Real-World reviews of e-bikes on gravel roads and dusty trails make us consider getting a couple.

The "e" part seems like an unnecessary complication unless your fitness is poor...

I have a "no-shocks" mtb with 3"x29" tires. On many tracks in the mountains NE of Q that were frequented by the SxS scourge, I was left wondering if I should have bought a full suspension bike. Loose gravel of varying size, over dirt and embedded rocks of varying size, and small whoops. I had ~14psi in the tires, such that it would only bottom out on the rims occasionally. It wasn't enough cushion. My prostate was well pounded. I did find some trails not too far away that were much smoother, though...

In a few weeks, I turn 73yo.
After a building collapsed on me a decade ago, I have one functional lung.
.
Do I need a fancy bicycle?
Probably not.
I still like keeping up with the youngsters, pretending I am vital and of some import.
This way, I am always available to 'hold their beer', encouraging their suicidal tendencies, then offering condolences to their next-of-kin while posting the video to the 'Older Minds Prevail' website.
Kidding.

The "e" part means it's something else that needs charging.

Indeed. Human power takes fuel also, but most of us are carrying around a surplus of that, so...

Bingo

I lost a fight between a motorbike and a pickup truck a decade back (A Silverado ran over me at a red light). After a bunch of operations, growing new bones over titanium, and a lot of PT I was able to walk again, but never very far.

My new eBike's assist lets me rebuild leg muscles without the weight bearing that shuts them down too soon. And if I go over my limit, it will get me home on full power mode.

It has given the outdoors back to me.

I got a fat tire folding bike that I can throw into the van. It can go pretty much anywhere that doesn't require climbing or going through bog. Hella better than a walker with tennis ball feet.

I'm researching an in-van recharging strategy - probably a larger alternator and inverter or Jackery type power bank. There might be a DC-to-DC solution, but I haven't got that far yet.
