Yes most ducks are good eating. I used to like to bast them in Mogen David Cherry Wine. Excellent eating. Now the sandhill crane is so revered down here they’ve got signs up to warn you there’s an area with them in and they enforce the law that you can’t disturb them and you can’t get near them and all tha…. But they taste so good. They are a official gamebird in 17 states. In Florida they treasure these things and set them apart as if they’re kings. In the Midwest they flock in by the hundreds of thousands and hunters shoot them to treasure the meat known as the “ribeye in the sky” go figure?

Mmm. Now I want to eat some duck. Maybe I'll go to 99 Ranch tomorrow and pick up a half-duck as well as other misc. sundries I usually only see at the Chinese supermarket...

There's an ex 99 Ranch in Honolulu that has a bunch of Asian food booths in it. My favorite Japanese Sushi place (actually sashimi) Take's is there. I always make a trip out to Mapunapuna (it's an industrial area by the airport) to eat there on trips home. It's now call the Moana Loa 99 Food Court. For duck, I go to the Chinatown.- All kinds of fantastic BBQ meats hanging in windows, there. Chopped to order.

I've never had better poke and sashimi... They could add 50% to the price and it would still be a fair deal (at least back when I was there in about 2012 or 2011). I wish I'd been there longer and found them earlier so I could have tried more of their food. Place looks like a total dive that was built in a converted motel room... It's obvious that what they saved on the building they spent on perfecting their food.

I’m continuing my nature photography in west central Florida. I’m trying to get a little artsy with the editing instead of just nature photography documenting birds, I’m trying to get a little artsy here are two examples. Unfortunately the size of the sensor in my new camera is too small to really blow this up and get great posters and framable663EABBC-0331-462E-B605-D51C6A8081F9.jpeg60D75C6D-FD80-4391-B0C1-B6E0889B6C7E.jpeg

Lots of eagles in Ankansas and they are huuuuuge. I stopped to take a picture, but my phone doesn't do zoom too well. And I have no clue how they taste...IMG_20220215_171640410.jpg

Been there many times! It's up Kapahulu by Leonard's Malasadas (Hawaii style donuts). I pass right by it on my way to W&M BBQ Burger (double Royal Burger w cheese, no ketchup, extra onions please) by 10th st up in Kaimuki. It's always crowded but starting to suffer from tourism success...

Cheers.

Hey NL. You've been off line a couple days. Howz everything going?

Cheers!

Reporting in from windy Arizona. The wind has certainly slowed down progress on my cabinet drawers. I would have been done with them by now. Yesterday and today 35 mph gusting. More tomorrow but slightly less speed so my trip to Quartzsite to the post office, laundry and shopping will wait another day.

Today I will put in the slide bracket for the last of the kitchen area drawers. Then take measurements and make a cut list for the pieces that trim out the drawer fronts.

Looking forward to moving a little further north later this spring.

Sorry I haven’t been on in a while and replied to JDub. To quote Mark twain “the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated”

I have been shooting birds but found nothing really new here at the Cracker Barrel pond. I’m down to $22 till payday on the third. I’d really like to go and spend a whole lot at cracker barrel. Or at Sonny’s BBQ which I can smell from my camp. But I gotta use it for gas, I’m down to an eighth of a tank. My batteries have only been charged by the van as somethings wrong with my solar controller. So I have to drive to charge the van and that $22 has to go for that. I need to keep my insulin cold so I can’t go without the fridge. I have plenty to eat. I think I have enough canned goods in here to stretch out for almost 6 or eight weeks. Same Sonny’s BBQ and Cracker Barrel taste better than my own cooking. And it’s that kind of splurging that got me down to $22. I travel around with no safety net cash at all. That really bugs me from time to time but other times I just ignore it and go on. I’d sure like to have a few thousand tucked away for when this thing breaks down. But reality is reality. I feel obligated to support Cracker Barrel when I’m here but it ain’t gonna happen today. I hope they don’t chase me out last night was my second night and I’m gonna be here tonight yet, the Lord willing.

of course when the Social Security comes I’m taking flight to Sanibel and that general vicinity. Chasing more birds. Here’s a picture of three boat tail grackles displaying for ladies. I think this would be worthy of blowing up and hanging on a wall. Looks a little artsy fartsy to me.

God bless the nomads no matter how they spend their time, working on the rig or out chasing birds.AEA9DDBE-81C6-459D-8814-B927C74E647F.jpeg

There's a Sonny's down in PCola that I go to when I'm down there. They've got pretty good BBQ for a chain. Just the smell will drive you crazy if you're hungry o_O. Have any idea what's going on w your controller? Nice photo ya got there!

Cheers.

I got to Sunny’s because sitting here in the parking lot at the cracker barrel they’re next-door and the smell just got to me. Excellent brisket some of the best I ever ate. as to the controller controller I have no idea what’s wrongAEDF7C32-40FD-4C34-B76F-588E5D663C0D.jpeg. But I’m just so messed up in my mind I don’t remember things too well. I just remembered that I have another controller sitting in here that was sent to me by one of my friends online I can’t even tell you who sent it to me any more but I know where it is I’m going to check it out tomorrow. By the way thank you for sending it, whoever you are. I’m going to look up our PMs and see who you were again. I’m so sorry for forgetting. This brain damage thing is wonderful. I can blame everything on it. And there are benefits like reading a book and not remembering the ending so I can read it the second time. And of course I can hide my own Easter eggs. God bless the nomads each and everyone.

above you will find a picture of a Nanday parakeet. A non-native species and a real nuisance but they are quite Pretty. But don’t tell the orange growers because they destroy oranges

Hey NL. Hanging in there? Another nice photo too. Parrots are taking over in Hawaii too and wreaking havoc on the fruit industry there. Did you get your controller issue sorted out?

Cheers!

JDub, I did not get to work on the solar yet. I am very good at procrastination. In fact I was going to go to a meeting of procrastinators anonymous but they rescheduled it for next month. Hope you’re having fun.

Since you liked that laugh I’ll give you another one. I don’t know if I put this on here before or not.

question; What is invisible and smells like carrots?
answer: bunny farts.

Spoiler alert: it's only a joke.
game warden caught a man shooting a seagull on the beach, when approached the man said it was all his family of 5 was going to eat for the day, taking pity on the poor man the game warden didn't give him a ticket, but asked out of curiosity what seagulls tasted like, the man replied "a lot like bald eagle."
