Don't tie anything on top of your car. People will comment that it is a dead body, recommend a local homeless shelter or God only knows what. People should mind their own business, but they don't. Beware.

I guess the reason I've never had a problem with it is it matches the rest of my character. I've hauled rocking chairs, mattresses and other bulky items ratchet strapped to the roof almost across the country. I even used the mirror brackets to haul extra long lumber along with some hooks on the side of the bed of my truck. I've seen long pipe hung under the chassis of a truck as well. Usually when I get pulled over the officer's first comment is " Yep, I should have known it was you."

LOL it was 2x4s wrapped in tarp, and even I thought it was a dead body. I may invest in some kind of cargo carrier I can atttach to the back end or something. I guess what I did looked a little too ghetto...like the first picture someone posted. :)

Now, I'm off to walk my dog, take a shower at my mom's house, and eat lunch with a friend among other things including re-organizing my car again.

Life as usual LOL

Well, then, Miss KnowItAll, how am I SUPPOSED to transport all those dead bodies?!?!

HA HA dead bodies strapped to the roof of cars.

what is it with people? I swear they do need to mind their own beeswax sometimes....ugh :)

No one around here would think twice about people hauling stuff on the roof of their vehicles. Its a DIY city and hauling stuff on roof racks is common. It is also a lets go camping in the summer area so that means a bunch of stuff on the roof is also commonly seen, especially on Subaru Outback,Volvo station wagons, on minivans and on SUVs.

I guess it all depends on the local culture as to if it is normal or suspicious.

To the ones commenting about the "dead body" comment:

LOLOLOLOL You are too funny. :) :) :) :)

To the ones that are talking about camping:

Yeah I thought it was weird that they made a big deal of it this time of the year.

But I think it depends on the neighborhood. The only places I feel "at home" right now (not all for parking but just in general) include the following:

KWIKTRIP (WI C-store chain)

Walmart

The laundromat

And of course my mom's or friend's houses.

Update:

I stored the "dead body" in my mom's garage. LOL I'll post a pic in a min.

Definitely looks suspicious.

Remember -

"Vacation" with Chevy Chase - his mother-in-law died during the trip and didn't they tie her body to the roof of their station wagon?

I don't recall that part in the Chevy Chase movie, no. And that is so 1980s just saying. But I agree with the people who pointed out that there are certain areas where people would think nothing of it and other areas where it for some reason is a big deal. I think it is funny now, and I didn't intend for this to be a serious post.

RIP Aunt Edna
Yeah but she's standing up straight as far as I can tell. The top of my car looked nothing like this. But now I have bigger fish to fry as indicated in my reply to the "ain't right club" post.

Has anyone done a conversion of a hearse? Plenty of room to stretch out back there. They sell cheap. Low miles. Might need some lifts.

remember tho, you can't take it with ya when you go.....wait, maybe ya can. Use the hearse as your coffin in the end....hey cool LOL

""And when I die I don't want no coffin......I've thought about it all to often...…..

Just strap me in behind the wheel ……..and bury with my automobile.....

Damn this Traffic Jam...……""

Your mind is in the wrong place and holding you back. Stop worrying about being judged and start asking for donations. I wish people would pity me ;)

I'm thinking why...  Why leave people wondering when you can simply remove all doubt.  Just put a coffin up there to carry your stuff around.  If people ask about it just laugh maniacally and offer to show them what's inside...
