Hmmm...well I've been told pretty much my whole life that I was born too late to be the hippie that I obviously am. Born in 67, first travel and "vandwelling" ( ok, it was sleeping in the car or station wagon, or pickup and cap or whatever) was in the mid eighty-six on the way to or from Dead shows, lived not too far from Bethel Ny ( Woodstock) and went to 20 and 25 the reunions. Got an A on a college psychology final for my essay on " Hippies" Can wear a clean rye dye every day for 3 weeks without doing laundry.... That type of hippie?

LOL... that's funny, Les.<br><br>I was born maybe 10 years too late (60's baby also) to be a true official hippie - does having an old soul count? <br><br>So, was it you who was the Dead Head or your parents - or maybe both? LOL Vanfan!&nbsp; <br><br>I actually live in what most folks would consider a hippie community.&nbsp; We're all way out here in the desert.&nbsp; Everyone is kind of eclectic and eccentric.&nbsp; There is no tellings what kind of clothes you are going to see folks wearing.&nbsp; Lots of folks live in vehicles, rvs or funky little shacks.&nbsp; Lots of artists and musicians.&nbsp; It generally ticks us off when folks try to impose regulations or mess with our freedom to be funky and offbeat.<br><br>Edited to add:&nbsp; OMG I think I am a hippie!

I wouldn't consider myself a full blown, tree hugging freak (as someone else posted) but live and let live.<br><br>Where is this community (general location). The Big Bend area.&nbsp; I'm in the northern tip of the Chihuahuan desert.&nbsp; Really beautiful, interesting place to live, but danged hot in the summer time.&nbsp; Perfect in the winter.&nbsp; Sure come on down.&nbsp; If you happen to ride a motorcycle this is awesome riding country.

You know I was kidding, right?&nbsp; I must say that I was "warned" when I moved here in the early '70's that Texas might not be the most welcoming place.&nbsp; Obviously, I haven't found it <em>too</em> harsh!<br><br>TXGypsy:&nbsp; I am lightly familiar with the area, and think it and the local culture is pretty awesome.&nbsp; Come August, it just might be cooler there than in D/FW.

Vanfan we are already hitting 110 or over now.&nbsp; You do not want to be here in August!&nbsp; That's monsoon season.&nbsp; So we end up with hot and humid instead of hot and so dry that your tongue cleaves to the roof of your mouth in about a minute spent outside.&nbsp; I love it here and I don't want to be here in July and August.<br><br>I grew up east of DFW.&nbsp; I do not miss the humidity in that part of the state!
