Welcome to our forum! Whether you are living in a vehicle or only dreaming of it, introduce yourself and let us get to know you. Like many of you, I was forced into vandwelling by circumstances, but I soon fell in love with it. So much so that I wanted to tell others about it. so I created cheaprvliving.com as a method to promote a lifestyle I love. After six years of full-time vandwelling, I moved back into a house, and totally hated it! Then, three years ago, I moved back into a home-built camper and have been full-timing every since. It is my deepest desire to never live in a house again! I am retired and work in the summer as a campground host in the National Forests and in the winter I draw unemployment and live for free on BLM desert land. But that's enough about me, tell us all about the most important person in the forum, YOU the new member.
Bob

Hi Bob!
Rodger here, Thanks for putting some since to my article have a little trouble getting my thoughts threw my fingers.
Thanks Bob. I grew up with a dad, that almost always had an old van he turned into camping vans, and have so many great memories of those simple days. I presently work 2 jobs, you know that "american dream" thing, and i just bought an old 91 ford E250, that i have already begun construction on. My wife "city girl", that happens to love camping (though we haven't gone yet - 10 years) <sigh>and loves animals, and fishing, is actually excited about the prospect of this. i live in Florida, and we have so many state parks, about 20 within a two hour drive from here, and we hope to have the van ready by early spring to start traveling to them. From there, i plan on working toward van living, as a 3/4 time retirement life. wish me luck

Thanks
Hank.
Thanks for joining, I hope we have lots of fun learning and sharing together. Bob
With that limited budget you are probably going to just take the cheapest and best van you can find. If at all possible you want to find an extended van, or sometimes called a 15 passenger van. They are longer and will give you more room. If you are paying rent now, my only suggestion is to buy the best van you can afford and move into it. Then take the money you were paying for rent and start saving it. After a few months you will have quite a bit of money and you can then either buy a better van, or start converting the van you have if it is worth keeping.

As you are getting closer to moving into the van I suggest you ask specific questions in the sub-forum on How to Live and Travel in a Van, in this Forum. Bob

Bob, well i check your site everyday, (just about anyway), but in answer to your question, i presently work two jobs. so work is slow on my van. i now have gutted it, insulated all exterior walls, with R13, and have the new white hardboard (like RV's use) on my ceiling, walls, doors etc. i have 3 new 12v dome lights arriving today, and hope to get my flooring/carpet this weekend. once that is in, i start on the table/bed combo, and cabinets. i enjoy the articles here, and your response. It keeps me motivated to work on it, when i'm just too tired. Thanks again for all you do.

Hi, been house free over five years now. Live on a small island and do house/pet sitting though so not in the van full time. On van version2, first one was a Ford Econoline and home now is a Chev P30.
Hi. This is Vickie from Vandwellers. I'm pretty sure I first learned about Vandwellers on this site, which continues to be a wonderful resource. The forum looks great!

I have a van, but don't live in it. I like knowing that I could and dream about traveling and/or camping more often.
