Hello ?

After I got to experience the learning curve of putting together the electrical system of my van, I thought I could build a tool to help us all regarding electrical diagrams and van builds.

Combining my job trade as a web developper and my love for vans ☺

I'm thinking about a electronical diagramming tool but specific to the vans and RVs. In the form of an interactive website.

Something point and click, easy to use but smart enough to understand the specifics of building for vans.

I thought of many features and capabilities but was wondering what you thought would be the most useful?

What was the hardest part you encountered while assembling your own system?

What could be easier with the proper tools?

Thanks in advance.

The world is full of such "apps". What is wrong with most is that the developer has no understanding of the system they try to diagram. Electrical systems in vans, boats, or RVs if not built properly can kill, and have killed people. Just trying to discourage you from this. Stick to the furnishings such as bed, shiter, water supply and cooking.

Being able to program the safety considerations into the design program would be a big plus. You'd need years of build experience as well as web design experience to do that properly - if not an EE degree.

That said, if you kept the choices limited and included wiring gauge calculators it could be done.

So have airplanes, cars, motorcycles, guns, bicycles, roller skates, pharmaceuticals, golf clubs, horses, pitbulls, trampolines, propane grills, helicopters, swimming pools, surfboards, hang gliders, elevators, escalators, rope, box-cutter knives, facebook users!, prison guards, police, yeah POLICE, pogosticks, space heaters, etc etc etc...yeah...so....anything that can kill you should not be done...right?

Wow.

I for one think educating the newbies is always a good idea.

I'm not sure an 'app' would do that, but it might help with rough calculations for solar panels, batteries, power produced vs power used for each item, etc.

No one said "..things that can kill you should not be done" . Plans and instruction of how to do such things should not be presented by those that do not have the necessary experience or knowledge or expertise to avoid of the danger of those things. But yes. Educating newbies is a good thing. Sort the **** from the straw before making a mattress. At the end, all those calculations in the form of tables already exist. Maybe an index of the available information would be kind of a "Google for Van Dwellers"?
