Hey everyone, I'm Nick. New here, had some troubles activating my account which i would like to thank Joey, and katieinkansas or sl whoever the moderator was who sent me another confirmation email, for helping out.

First off I'm not currently living on the road, but plan to in the next 6 months to a year be on the road traveling and happy. I will be vandwelling. Yesterday I purchased a 1992 Dodge Ram 250 with a 318 and 46,000 miles for the whopping sum of $800. as far as I'm concerned a steal. Anyway I am planning to find a donor van with Hi-top to remove and install on mine plus a solar panel. So if anyone here has any experience or helpful tips to smooth things along I'm all ears. Thanks and hopefully we can all cross paths someday.

p.s i attached a pic of the van

First of all... WELCOME!

Second.... That looks like not only a steal but one hell of a deal! GREAT BUY!

Third.... I have no information on buying a "Hi-top" but I do have a question: What would keep one from building a "hi-top like roof box"? Seems to me you could make it taller than a mass produced hi-top thing and just do lots with it. Maybe the price would be more to build... but you could really build it out of plywood... cheap. (disclaimer: writer in no ways recommends doing this but is just thinking out loud)

Welcome to the group Nick. I also have a 89 Dodge b250, with a 318.

does anyone know how to get in touch with "sandy" the guy who is featured in the installing a hi top article??

Excellent buy and welcome to the tribe....our initiation is easy....you just passed it....you posted...LOL
Bri

Hi and welcome! There are videos on utube about how to install a high top. It's pretty simple to do. Basically you're opening a can. What type of can opener you use makes the job harder or easier.

yeah i've seen the videos, i'm just curious as to how important the donor van is.

Does it need to be the same type of van. I just found a high top at a junk yard on a 99 or 00 dodge van, but i know the roof lines changed in 93. my van is a 92. i don't want any leaks. i also found an old ambulance thats just sitting and rotting, windows busted out no engine but a nice hi top. but its a mid 90's ford.

Hello and welcome Wanderlust Vagabond. It's good to have you in the group. I'm looking forward to watching the progress on your Dodge!

V.T.
