Good morning. Glad you're have a good time Roamer! Wish I could get out.

Well, bad news on the remote start. It isn't the switch. Took a good while searching the net to find a good diagram of the switch wiring. There are only 4 wires, led (to indicate running), start, stop and ground. The ground is applied to start and stop through the switch (and ground for the led). The start wire is open, grrrr. Probably rat chew under the van somewhere. Maybe they built a nest on top of one of the tanks under there where the wiring crosses from one side to the other although all wiring is encased in wire loom. At least the mothballs seem to be keeping them out of the engine bay. I was concerned that they might have chewed through the hot wire going to the gas tank pump but the van still starts and the gas gauge works. I gotta come up with a plan for keeping them from nesting under the van now it looks like. A sitting vehicle seems to be fair game. Any ideas?

Well, apparently Roamer is having more fun than Brian today. More fun than most of us, really. Enjoy your vacation time, Roamer. I like how you remind us of what we could be doing instead of what we are doing.

For me, my life is bogged down with STUFF and it is time for me to DISCARD STUFF to make nomadic life a real possibility.

I hope you all have a good day. Either live the dream or take steps toward it.

It seems to me I had a similar problem once that was caused by poor circuit connections. They just needed a little cleaning and a better ground. If all the wires are in wire loom it seems likely all the wires would have gotten chewed on unless the start wire was a tasty color! I would check with an ohm meter or run a temporary wire around where you think they chewed and see if it works before I started tearing out stuff.

The wires are a ribbon cable in a loom when it goes underneath. Only the start wire affected. The chew is speculation until such time as the actual problem is found. Hard for me to troubleshoot when I have to check on the wife often.

get a Rat Terrier or a cat or a mongoose or an owl or a rat snake

No livestock. Been there, done that. There is an owl we hear hooting every now and then and a pair of hawks.

GM!

B and C, you do got a lot on your plate right now LOL feel for ya :)

so true Travelaround….this is just a vacay for 2 weeks but at home I am paring down the house big time. I got about 4 yrs til kid hits college then we are selling it all....omg seems so long, but heck we have been waiting so long, now the yrs seem so much shorter. But the junk I do have, I am ditching, thank goodness I am a minimalist type anyway LOL
I have 3 horse barns on my house property now so I have to clear those also but I got enough yrs, told hubby when the time hits, we are gone so fast it will make your head spin!

on school summer vacation time we rv so much, we cram so much into this short time but it feels great to be on the road at any time ;) I am so over home maintenance, so over mowing, so over being stuck, I want freedom lol

Good morning. Dean, October will be here before you know it.

Pets are livestock by another name. Don't want any anymore.

hear ya B and C

got Papillion dog Bolt for kid when she was, like, 6, so kid is 14 now...dog is now a bit over 8....I planned it that dog might croak before college and our nomadic adventure, or she can deal with it in college in an apt. for what time it has left, lol :)

when we go nomadic 0 pets. don't want ANY responsibility at all on the road now.

Good morning. Hope everyone is doing well.

Started raining yesterday (2") and another inch overnight. Don't have to water the sod and after it stops raining, I can go fill up the gas tank in the van and park it in its' normal spot. Gotta move the motorcycle trailer too. Then we get to start moving STUFF to the shed. Underwhelmed.

Hello people . . . I went on a short journey yesterday after church - ended up at Heyburn State Park at the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene. This was a glimpse of my life to come once I get the apartment cleared out. My tentative schedule is to spend July traveling and to clear out the apartment from August 1 through September 15.

vacay is fun :) bacon frying at other campsites outside, OMG the smell is so nice! nothing like bacon on the wind, making me hungry HA

relax on beach, sunny and nice. more turtles nested last night, a ton of those suckers around which is a good thing, the numbers of them nesting are improving due to conservation efforts which is nice to know.

enjoy the day all

true. I love natural. As Earth intended. Without TOO much human interaction but nowadays some has to happen or us humans would destroy it all :(

that sounds like a great plan. You will have a better idea of what to keep and what to let go of. Plus you get some fun before the drudgery of clearing out.
