Let me start by saying what a great site this is. I have read around the many blogs and information and I am quite thankful to have found such a great place to think and interact. I have found it a bit difficult to meet people who have the same lifestyle as we do in Canada. At first I was a bit shocked and then I felt a bit lonely. My husband and I are in our mid 30's, children grown and living independantly. We have chose full time rving as our lifestyle because we both want for less in our materialistic world. Our intention is also to make people more aware of this lifestyle and help those who are looking for the same. We are selling our home, our business, and many of our personal belongings to take adventure in the most satisfying life we can imagine. I thank all you American people to so much advice and encouragement. We will soon be on our journey across Canada travelling from town to town, and job to job, teaching and encouraging other Canadians to step back and live life simply. If anyone knows of someone in Canada with the same life views I would appreciate the opportunity to chat with them about their experiences, as I love to read about all of yours. Blessings

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you all so much. You have left me with some exciting information. Obviously I have found the right page!

Right now I'm in Osoyoos either camping out in the Husky parking lot (at night) or up by the old mine. Doing Some metal detecting in and around the lake too.

YAY! Welcome Canadian! I was married to a Canadian and stayed up there a while, in the Kingston area. There are a LOT of RV'ers and the like from Canada here in the states. I would think most full-timers would get out of there in the winter! The desert southwest is full of them (Quartzite and Yuma, in AZ and El Centro in California)

I was just in 4 degree (40 F for USA folk) weather in my van without insulation and was FREEZING cold when I got out of my bed in the mornings. I wouldn't want to try -40 (same -40 in F too) like Canadian winters! (Ok ok, not all canada gets that cold, and that's probably the coldest it can get for most of the populated areas of Canada, but I'm being dramatic )

Anyways.. Welcome!

With Love,
Tara

Tara the coldest ive ever seen, worked outside in is -67 in Baffin island. Usually we have a week or two of -30 to -40 with a wind chill. But for the most part its -20 ish for most of the winter months

The coldest I've ever experienced is -70 with a wind chill factor. I was stationed at a USAF base in northern Maine. This base was just 5 miles from the Canadian border. That was one VERY cold day I'll never forget. BRRRRR!!!

Welcome from another Canuck - I've been fulltiming rv in Canadian (Ontario) winters since 2004 & part-time winters for schooling 2002/2003.
Coldest was -45 with windchill {inside temp was 90 we had to open vents - we were too hot!} in Ottawa at a campground we (Mom & I) were "camp-sitting" for a few months that winter while the manager was away on holiday in the sunny south!
