Well M-87, unlike Liv, you're not gonna be invited into the Inner Circle of Saints at RTR. But I wouldn't pick up a hitchhiker either myself, especially a pushy one, which is of course why I'll be out with the sinners.
The weather pattern you mentioned is common in Colorado. They always say "if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes". Also, I hiked in the CO mtns for 25-years, and you **always** had to plan on there being afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. The one thing it will pay to do when it comes to traveling in the west, is to browse on some websites that talk about how to interpret local weather patterns.
