Normally I only post hands on reviews of products and services, however I have data coming out the ying yang so I am just passing these deals on. Both are based on older ipad deals being resold by DRWireless. The first is the sim and account only for $119. The second is Sim, account and a hotspot for $149.99. DRWireless is one of the sellers of the Verizon unlimited 3G hotspots and has a good rep.

AT&T Unite 770S

Anyone know what LTE bands this covers?

I assume 2, 4, 5

Probably B12, but 29 ?

Netgear specs only say 700 MHz (AWS)

B30, 66?

Would be nice if I could use an unlocked one for T-Mobile B71? I have 112GB / mo on there when it's available, sometimes very fast when ATT gets crowded.

If I want to switch this "unlimited" SIM to another unlocked router (assuming ATT compatible) later on, do you think that would cause problems with the account?

Any external antenna is a improvement over the tiny antennas inside of a hotspot or phone. I haven't looked for antennas since getting the Sleek and directional antenna honestly. It is so effective that where I am I am told the internet sucks. I am seeing AT&T fast enough to stream the Super bowl at 3.7 Mbps, Sprint LTE is 13 Mbps and T-Mobile is a whopping 26 Mbps. I suppose I should check the Verizon 3G too but you can see why I rarely turn it on.

The price for that external antenna is not that much less than the refurbished cradle booster/ directional antenna set up I suggest now.

Can you point to that thread Jim?

Are you saying one such booster works with all the different hotspots and phones, rather than getting separate ones?

This one.

It is all I use and I have a total of 7 different hotspots and three phones spread across the four carriers. The wide band directional antenna is crucial for covering bands outside of the cradles original specs like band 41 on Sprint. I would suggest finding the original Sleek if you can as the FCC has tightened the rules for the newer equipment. Should you not find a Sleek then use the Weboost Drive and even the less expensive wide band directional yagi for $35 and you can still have better than the higher priced RV boosters sold now. They cost hundreds more than the $200 you can have my system for.

Refurbished WeBoost Drive for $129

The Weboost wide band directional antenna I use for $46, there are cheaper

Connecting cable using no adapters $22.54

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SNRIFS6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are times I see no signal on the devices until I fire up the booster, then it lights them up like a Christmas tree and I and everyone near me gets to go zoom.

By the way, in this location Verizon is nearly useless as it hasn't been able to lock into a tower yet. Then again I have not taken the time to look for its tower with the directional yet either. The rest are quite happy with the antenna pointed in one direction. In the Rockies each carrier needed a different position.

Here : https://www.amazon.com/Netgear-770S-Mobile-Hotspot-Unlocked/dp/B01BERGPX8

it shows "This device will support B17 (700) and B4 (1700/2100) on the 4G Spectrum. and B5 (850), and B2 (1900) on the 3G Spectrum. "

Thanks for those links JiminDenver. I've been trying to figure out which cable I need to use my sleek with that bigger directional antenna. Saved me a ton of time finding one.

So is this hotspot only accessible using an iPad or can you use other devices like windows laptops or android phones?

The hotspot can be accessed by anything that normally would connect to a wifi signal.

Great post.

I've spent the last 15 years with Verizon / FIOS via home. So the technical cellular stuff is over my head (bands, etc).

So what is the best booster to get?

I make my living on the internet, so I have no problem paying more if it's better.

Also, what exists for tmobile, sprint, verizon hotspots that have unlimited data?

Is the ATT true unlimited and only $30 per month. Seems impossible.

Thanks in advance!

I recently reviewed the weBoost RV drive booster and for the money the Wilson sleek or weBoost drive cradle boosters are a much better buy.

For Sprint I use the PC's for people unlimited LTE hotspot for $120 a year.

For Verizon I use a Verizon 3G unlimited hotspot for $5 a month.

My T-mobile is not unlimited except for Binge on and Music freedom services.

The AT&T for $29.99 is truly unlimited with the same language that you MIGHT be deprioritized IF you are over 22 gigs and IF you are on a congested tower.

I am considering an unlocked GSM phone for my current talk and text provider (Republic Wireless). Would it be possible to also use this phone with drwireless' AT&T data plan by swapping the sim card when I want to use it as a hotspot?

Unless they've radically changed since I last checked them out, RW only works with their proprietary handsets.

And I believe that data plan only works with those grey market flashed hotspots.

So, no.

PS check out Google Fi for a better implementation of what RW was trying to do.

Or TextNow at the low end, carry your number around on any number of phones on different provider networks at the same time.

Very helpful, thanks. I had not heard of Google Fi. Do you think I could use a Google Fi phone w/ the drwireless $29.99 AT&T plan by switching sim cards?
