French coffee press (Google it) - just add boiling water. It makes great coffee. We have one that makes 2 cups. It's small, lightweight and travels well, even though our's is glass and it's fast.

The only instant coffee I can tolerate is Folgers but the French Press is almost as fast and just need boiling water.

Just make sure that if you have a glass one.. you are very careful on cold mornings have cracked a few of them with the temperature differenetial

Being from Seattle, I do love my coffee! When I have access to electric, I grind the beans fresh and use the drip coffeemaker. Otherwise, I use pre-ground [which I keep in ziplock bags] and a percolator. I keep a day's supply in a stainless steel thermos. For camping in a tent, I use a Jetboil French Press with ground coffee.

Road Pro does it again:

http://www.my12voltstore.com/Roadpro_12_Volt_Coffee_Maker_p/rpsc784.htm

That was on my xmas list. didn't get it, I must have been BAD.

Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with a small stainless steel perk.

M.

PS - speaking of Oregon (thank you, Willy, for the added nausea to my day) that I think Dutch Brothers is an Oregon company, and they make SERIOUSLY good coffee, IMO. I have two full D.B. coffee cards stuck in my visor for when I get back to the West Coast.

I have been making coffee "tea" type bags with coffee and coffee filters! it works great! 1/2 teaspoon for an 8 oz cup, u can play with the ratio depending on your tastes.....

I use the Melitta Single Cup Brewing Cone but you can get a 10-cup model as well. It's inexpensive, durable, lightweight, and compact. The only downside is that I have to use more coffee than I do at home to get the same strength brew. Oh, the best part - no clean up!

I used to do cowboy style every day and still do for camping since there is less to carry and clean.

Just stir in coffee, milk, sugar etc. and let settle for a few minutes. All the coffee settles to the bottom and just don't drink the last sip.

One trick is to grind the coffee very very fine that way if you do accidentally drink the last sip it it doesn't taste so bad. You can also get Turkish coffee which is meant to be made this way.

I don't drink a lot of coffee, but I'm picky ... it must come from being from the Seattle area

If the beans/roast is good, I'll take it anyway I can get it ... cowboy style, french press, drip, espresso, instant, even perk. My favorite is espresso.

Being on the road, I try to balance my method of brew among taste, convenience and cost. Good taste is a must, but, depending on how I feel, I go back and forth on the convenience factor.

For an espresso, I've found the Aerobi AeroPress makes a great cup. With the exception of an instant, it's as fast as any other brewing method. It packs small, is lightweight, and clean up is extremely easy. Unlike other brewing methods, you don't just wait for it to be coffee, you are actually doing something to "pull" the espresso.

So, this is where I come clean and tell you that I rarely use the AeroPress. Because my preferred bean/roast of choice is Starbucks (did I say I was from the Seattle area?), I drink VIA. VIA is Starbucks' instant coffee and it's really good and about as easy as you can get. I buy in bulk (50 servings at once) and have found it for as little as $.36 per serving at Amazon.

Cheers, Suanne

VIA is Starbucks' instant coffee and it's really good and about as easy as you can get. I buy in bulk (50 servings at once) and have found it for as little as $.36 per serving at Amazon.

Wow. That is a great price for VIA. I believe that's even a better price than Costco.

You can buy empty tea bags on amazon, fill them with whatever brand and strength of coffee you like, put in a cup pour boiling water over them and steep for as long as you want.
