Traveling Around... I still think you should build out a retired book mobile. Haha. Best of luck on the grant...
Nature Lover, that’s good news. I know a number of people that have gone there numerous times on medical missions. It’s sad when people trying to do good have to go through that. I’ll be praying also. Thanks for sharing. Was hoping your good news was you heading south.
Turkey day I’ll be trying to help my daughter as she was picked to host her husbands family this year. She has not been feeling to hot for a while and that’s the last thing she needed to do. I’ll grab her sister and we’ll be helping. At my sons now in Washington. Being a grandpa is sure a fun job! Can be a bit overwhelming when you just drove 1000 + miles. But nothing like falling asleep to kids yacking your ear off. Haha. My one grandson follows me everywhere and never stops talking. Once his dad told him to be quiet and Tristan replied “but I have to” in his little passionate voice. His little one year old brother is going to be the same way. I’m so glad I have my hearing. But sometimes I still need an interpreter. Little kids can be hard to understand.
But... I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving out there.
Ravella, that’s great that you made the healthy changes. But man... I was really looking forward to trying some of that fancy baking I’ve heard so much about. Would enjoy some of those fancy French toast... would share some of the last of my maple syrup from last year. That’ll be my call to go back north come spring. Making syrup for the next year. Haha. Just talked to my younger son on his birthday yesterday. I’m combining my efforts with him as he doesn’t have the time to cook it and I’m unable to process enough wood for the fire needed. Seems like a good fit... kind of a sweet deal might I say.

Well jacqueg, sounds like you are volunteering to make the dough!

I use a hand potato masher to make mashed potatoes, does that count?

I think hand mashers are the very best way to make guacamole.

As for cookie dough - it's been years since I made any. But I'm pretty sure I haven't forgotten how...

I will be in Quartzsite a day or two after Thanksgiving. Maybe we can test it out!

Sourdough bread is a health conscious food and definitely still on my diet-- and once it belongs to someone else, I don't care how much sugar and fat they put on it. So relax, all you French toast freaks.
;-)

I don't know what possessed me, but I bought a rolling pin and a mixer at yard sales this month. I wonder what I'll use them for...

As a side note my wife died a year ago today. I still miss her!!!!

It is very sad that both Freelander and B&C were recently widowed last year. But what a blessing it is in life to have had a marriage so good that you will forever miss your beloved.

YARC camp was a good place last winter for a calm transition to being on the road solo. Pleasant company to be had but not overwhelmingly busy with activities or noise.

Busy Monday as usual for this week of November. Lots of orders that came in over the weekend to ship out this afternoon. My reward for being a good girl who does quick shipping will be stopping at that French bakery/cafe for a treat.

Almost out of water so I will stop and fill up some jugs at a dispensing machine. Also visit a municipal dumpster at the park in town to deposit a couple of bags of trash.

Hoping to leave Wednesday for Lake Havasu but not sure if that will happen. Cold here near Pahrump in the high desert this morning. My fellow campsite mate said his indoor thermomter read 36 degrees when he woke up. I did not look at mt thermomer, thermomer, I just got up, put the kettle on for coffee water and crawled back into my warm, fluffy, downy, nest. After coffee I met with my friend for a short dog walk before they headed down the road to California. Now that I am done with my second cup of coffee and the solar input has fully charged my battery it is time to get busy with doing "stuff".

I feel crushed by the deaths in my family this year.  Sometimes pulling the blanket over your head is all you can do.

I lost my mother in Jan of 2019 my father in march of 2019 and my wife nov of 2020. I hope I am done with funerals for a while.

Oh man freelander, that would be hard. Glad you are moving forward with your life. Are you then staying in Texas? Or coming west to all your friends? Haha. Missed seeing a lot of folks last year myself.
I’ve never been so looking forward to going to a desert! Technically my son where I took off from in Washington is in a desert. That was to cold even there. Come Sunday I’ll be making my way back to the desert. The Arizona desert! Mid seventies for highs predicted. I’ll be good with that.

I will be here through next June and then back on the road again.

Next fall I plan to be back in the desert.

Big failure on having a current reliable weather report from this morning. By the time I got done running errands in town some very strong gust started up, definetly in the mid 30s to 40 mph range coming down the mountain slopes at this particular location. I had planned to clean out the back of my car to get ready to head south on Thursday. Oh well, no hurry as far as that goes. But at least the store was not sold out of rotisserie chicken. Drumsticks were my dinner tonight and the white meat will be my "turkey" dinner on Thursday.

I do not want to be on the highway this weekend with the masses of extra long holiday weekend travelers. The "unbelievable" future weather report looks OK for the next 5 days so I will work on projects, downsizing and organizing. Looking forward to seeing some of you in Quartzsite in a few weeks!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. What have we got to be thankful for?

I'm thankful for a book to read (wouldn't you know it) and thankful I got a call this afternoon from the woman who is helping me put together an application for the grant to build a house. I'll be working on my application this weekend... I have to verify everything except my blood type, just about. I'm so thankful my printer/scanner is working right again now.

I was going to visit my brother in Eugene for Thanksgiving, but low tire pressure is keeping me home until I can get someone local to fix my tire. I put air in it and it was down to 10 psi and should have been 52 psi . . . so I called it - I decided it was unsafe for driving on the river highway. It is a 70 mile winding road with cliffs and a river type trip to get to Yreka where I could have taken it to a tire shop on Wednesday. There's no place to get more air between here and there. I decided to stay in town where I'm safe.

I am at Osceola National Forest trying to locate the gathering. I can't find the forest for the trees, LOL. The forum was out of commission for me all day yesterday and I had no contact numbers to ask for help. So I stayed in a Days Inn, which was a good way to work out the kinks from staying at a Cracker Barrel the previous night. Without pitching the decoy tent, I had to fit myself amidst all the gear in the back. Note to self: get a roof-top cargo box installed before going on the road full-time. I will try to locate the gang again today. We are supposed to discuss East Coast caravans...I need one to find the gang, LOL.

Well I moved the RV about 30 miles north and an stating at my Cousins place until Sunday then I will move back.

Turns out the ones that showed for the East Coast gathering left a couple days ago. Would have been nice to have been informed before I drove several hours to get there. There were non-nomad campers there and it was a bit too crammed for me anyway. Plus the bathroom shack was closed. Perhaps when East Coast caravans are formed, there will be a better communication format...specifically exchanging direct text and email contacts in case of another forum crash.

You could form a private group on facebook or on meetup. Zoom meetings also work for having face to face time . HOWA is using meetup and zoom for caravan virtual meetings, you can create your own meetup group copying that example. No need to wait until spring to gather more interest in the caravan as well as getting to know each other.

Happy Tday all
off to all you can eat crab at the beach
in the rv and feeling fine, just nice to be IN the rv and on vacay but can't wait til total freedom to come sooner than later now :)
