Its a Traeger Ranger grill made for tailgating, as far as Solar use, I smoked 4 slabs of ribs last year at Q all on solar and never even noticed it on the batteries.

4 slabs was quite a load for it, I had a hard time closing the lid on it. Traeger does make a 400 watt investor for this grill but I use a 500 watt inventor for it.

Geez, I went looking for video on using full sized Traeger Smokers on solar power and came up completely surprised. They can run on smaller solar systems with as little as 400 watt capacity if backed up by say a 200 watt panel. I even saw one example with a 100 watt panel and a 400 watt system. I want one. I might try to figure out a way to fit one in. Now I need to get out the measuring tape and do some figuring. Sitting around and drinking beer while smoking ribs and watching the desert go by looks pretty good compared to freezing my butt off this winter while I continuing my van build.

That's great. I mean really great. I thought one of these would be impossible. But now I have to redesign my van all around one. So I had to have a bathroom / shower, a bed, and a tailgate kitchen. But I never dreamed of having a smoker. This is so cool.

So what trick do you use to keep other campers away? LOL

OK, so I'm a glutton for punishment. I want to add a signature that reads; "I'm an ******* that loves to gamble. I would love to share with any other ******* that would like to learn how to beat a casino and make a little money, all for free."

Would that be allowed here? Does anyone object, moderators?

It draws more power to start it up because it a has 'hot rod' to start the pellets, after it going it uses very little to run the fan, augur, and the controller.

I bake with it as well, its basically a wood fired oven. Weights about 65 lbs and I have both a cover and bag for it.

@ Freelander I went to the link that you provided for the table top Traeger that was displayed there. It fits. I would have to tilt it on it's side so that it fits upright, the thin way. That way is 13.5 inches. Then it's basically a 20 by 20 inch box. I guess there are a few things inside I might need to bag up or store if I tilt it like that? Got to get a shot of the inside. I know I would have to empty the pellet dispenser.

Smoker

Comes with a grate and a grill plate, also the 500 watt inverter I use.

They dont have an easy way to remove the pellets, I have a small vacuum I use to clean out the bottom of it. You may be able to add a magnetic latch to the hopper or even a small hasp to it.

I can attest to Freelander’s smoking skills. Yum yum ribs!!!

This is a family-friendly site. Kids may not be posting on here but they can read it so no.

So awesome. This may kill two birds with one stone. It comes with a flat griddle as I see in the picture. If I were to guess it looks like about 19 inches by 14 inches. I can look that up. That's big enough to heat tortillas and taco meat. I'm getting closer to not needing propane. Or instead of a big 5 gallon bottle I could use little green camping bottles, much easier to store. This might change a few things in my design. I was going to get 22 inch Blackstone flat top griddle. I would not need that.

I think the grill size is 11" x 13", and small sheet pan will fit it, just fine, I have one whit holes in it I use to smoke meatloaf.

Basically you can cook about anything on it. Now it does 'color' you food a little Biscuit turn a bit brown but they are still yummy!!!

OK, that's cool. So what about a synonym for an A-hole that goes with a 70 year old curmudgeonly / optimistic, people person that likes company?

I couldn't find the dimensions for the griddle. But the box is around 20" by 21". When you take out a little more than a third for the pellet feed you get that 11 inches that you mention. The griddle looks like cast iron. It's also losing around 1 1/2 inch on each end for handles. So you take out that. I'm guessing around 11" by 16 " of actual cooking space. I'm going to go find one in some box store and measure it all.

I don't want to gamble, nor read about gambling every time I come to this forum.

I don't want a lot of things. I just don't want to put my values on others most of all. I like Live and let live. I also recognize that some people have been raised to do otherwise. I just avoid them. It's the only thing that works.

I just love this comment. I can imagine a bunch of people gathering just for an improvised food festival on dispersed lands. A bunch of barbecue people and sides too. This must have already happened?

I just measured it, it is 11X16.
