I can't explain it, but this forum is one of the hardest on my eyes.
The green topics list is hard for my eyes to see.  I have to strain.

I'll bet for others it's the absolute perfect for their eyes.
I tried the other themes.  All were equally hard on my eyes.

Odd how different people can be.

There were six of us there when I got up this morning. I went back over to the far side of the park and ride to straighten out the mess in back and wake up a little bit before I got on the ferry. Two of the cars that were still there from the night before had very fogged up windows. I cracked my front windows by about 2 in and I had such a nice breeze blowing through the van all night I didn't even need to use my fans.

I was unaware that you needed reservations for the Port Townsend ferry now. I was only able to get on because it was so early.

I love Port Townsend so much I would love to live there.
They always have a few spaces for unreserved users. But sometimes you have to wait for a few boats to get your spot. And they are right now down to 1 boat not 2. Also this time of year they sometimes have tide delays or closers. Go on line if you need to to get reservations. We go over often and rarely have a res. but now with only 1 boat it may be harder.
Oh and welcome to Whidbey.

There have been times when I had to did the 2 boat shuffle plus long drives to get to Whidbey from the peninsulas. Ferry crossing at Kingston to Edmonds, Wa and then ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton.

I have spent quite a lot of hours on the WA state ferry boats including last summer and fall.

Contrary to popular belief naturelover did not die. It’s been a dark and dismal two months since I’ve posted. I’m not gonna go into all the details and bore you with it but anybody here who knows what dealing with depression, specifically bipolar depression is Will know why I haven’t been around. So hello friends I hate to disappoint you but “he’s back”. I guess being bipolar really makes me a nomad in more ways than one I’m going back-and-forth between the poles while traveling the roads in my van. God bless all the nomads especially the bipolar ones. He knows we need it.

It’s all those pickles.

Nature lover. HOWA (or an affiliation maybe) has a support group that meets online if you are interested.

I was being crowded at Williams and I had to get rid of trash at the landfill and resupply water and food, so, I took a drive up to the south entrance to the Grand Canyon. I have my senior America the Beautiful Pass and it didn't cost me a dime to get through the gate. I didn't stay long because it was late in the afternoon and I had to find a spot to camp for the night. There's a 14 day dispersed out here somewhere and I am there now. Decent spot. If anyone wants to know exactly where it is, PM me and I'll send the coordinates.
I'm going back to the park tomorrow and look around further. Last year the park was closed but they let people in for 4 days only, free of charge but only the road heading east was partly open. That was the first time I was here and I'm sure there's a lot more to see now. The south entrance is only about 58 miles from Williams.

It's been over two weeks since my second shot of Moderna and I'm taking advantage of it.

As soon as I got my first car and license in 1975, I was all over those ferries.  I love ferry rides.  We'd take rides for no reason other than the ride.  We'd ride one ferry there and back and then go get on another ferry somewhere else.

I love the route I took today because it gives you two ferry rides!

Well, I learned some things on my trip.  My fears, and why some of them are unfounded.  My limitations.  The fact that if I'm relatively comfortable with the spot I'm in and feeling safe, I can sleep like a log.  I might as well have been home in my bed I slept so well.  Until 4:30 this morning when the hardware store got a huge delivery of pallets loaded with stuff.  Big truck rumbling, forklift going BEEP BEEP BEEP.  Sheesh.

Thank you cammalu, I may look into it. I dropped off of Facebook for political reasons. Too slanted in one direction, so if it meets there I can’t.

Allen 1958 - I have been in the Tuscarora State Forest PA since April 10. When I left for Florida November I said I don’t ever want to see snow again. We had a half an inch here one day last week. Almost 2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and I had to get AAA to tow me out of the mud. That was fun because they got stuck too. I have to wait here in PA till my custom shoes come in then I think it’s off to Kentucky, then western New York, Then forests in Maine when the summer gets warm. Those are just goals nothing written in stone. That’s one of the joys of being a nomad we can “change horses in midstream.” I have been visiting all my favorite wildflower places here in the forest, counting at least 25 different species so far. And maybe five different hybrid violets on top of that. Come 1 June I’m celebrating one year full-time.

There are two gals here and I have no idea what their political affiliations are and I don’t want to know. I’m pretty sure they are Christians if that matters to you. I am not and don’t talk about it. I’d rather stick a needle in my eye than hear anyone’s political thoughts. I don’t watch regular TV and avoid it at all costs. There is however a pirate flag or sugar skull flag on a long thingy on my ATV.

Cammalu - hey I appreciate everybody’s point of view. I did not mean that people who use Facebook or might be part of this support group have political opinions that would affect the group. That’s not it I’m very open to respecting other people‘s opinions. The reason I dropped out of Facebook was that Facebook itself is not open to other peoples opinions. They banned me for two weeks just because I passed on something sent to me that was against their politics. I fact checked the post on snopes and cnbc before reposting it and there was nothing in my post that was wrong. If they were open to other peoples opinions as I was I’d still be on Facebook. Yeah I have nothing against anybody including you who have opinions different than mine. The rules are that this is not the place for politics so I’m totally leaving out what that post on Facebook was about. But for Facebook it’s their way or the highway, I chose the highway. But as I always try to be here I’m open to everybody’s opinion and try to treat all with dignity and respect.

^^^ I saw you posted on another post so now all the questions are answered, glad you are back and hope all goes well.

I have been fortunate in my choice of camping spot on the dispersed camping near Dogtown Lake. I am not at all being crowded. I can only see on RV in the distance to the west and they are very quite, I have never even seen them outside of the RV. I do hear road noise because trailers are required to stay within 30' of the FS road. But there is not any traffic on it after dark, so super quiet at night. The other RV is far enough away they won't even hear my Honda generator. I will likely be using it today for some sewing task and later in the week to run a few woodworking tools that are. Not all that noisy.

I can deal with my trash by going to the Day Use site at Dogtown Resevoir. That is is not a long drive. But I am not taking large bags of trash there, just a grocery bag size not quite full. Compacting empty containers helps a lot to reduce the volume of trash.

What a day of sidetrack distraction meaning I got no projects completed even though I spent a lot of time starting and stopping projects due to various roadblocks in them.

I want to self medicate with an icecream and cookie binge. Good thing I don't have any! Guess I will have to make do with some apple sauce instead. Loosing weight is much easier when it is a longer trip to town and it is difficult to find the campsite on a dark night. Keeps me away from easy to acquire temptations.

Short answer is no. Some can be recapped. which is kinda sorta like recycling. Highdesertranger

They recycle old tires into road pavement materials.

Yeah... lots of uses for them... too bad they haven’t figured out a better way to make car hoses & now tires .. mind boggling...they must have rats in charge..
