Camilla's motorhome as it was described to  me has an issue with the bidet hose not remaing in exactly the right position to shut off the flow. So it is leaking water into the toilet and is filling up the black water tank rather quickly as well as using up water.  That  Bidet faucet shutoff issue may (or may not) be related to the water pump cycling on. So that is number one on the list of can it be fixed or does it need to be replaced. I have not yet seen it to evaluate what can be done in terms of adjusting the shutoff position on the unit.  But for sure before I would try to  tackle the pump cycling issue I would fix the bidet. Might be a two for one win.

From the SPRING camp..........The tripping GFCI receptacle is located thru the bottom of the overhead cabinets in one of the slides........

You need to almost "lay" on the counter to install a new one.....uses a trim ring for the added device depth......daisy chained to protect other receptacles..............All located in a SLIDE of course........

It has been a good weekend in my Etsy store. Busy printing out shipping labels so I can take the orders to the post office in the morning. I can think of all kinds of things I would like to spend those funds on, but then I remind myself that I need to visit the dentist in Mexico.

My generator is running perfectly now, not surging, not shutting down, etc. I have had it on for more than an hour. Will run it more later on today for cutting more Tiny Village building kits. Good to get that off my check list of things I needed to take care of.

Wind woke me up around midnight. Put on my super bright head lamp and did a walk around of my campsite. The dome tent's poles on the north side were for sure flexed by the wind but none of them got disconnected or broken. I can't imagine wanting to sleep in a tent in that kind of wind, much too noisy. But I suppose the canvas tents like the Spring Bar would be a lot quieter than a polyester tent.

Maki John need to go to the dentist also. Perhaps a combined trip.

John checked Ehrenberg for lemons today. They used to get them in by the bucketload from a grandmothers house. They were huge and delicious and cheap. Not this year darn it.

Camilla, I will be shifting my camp down towards the border because I know it is going to require several visits to see dentist. Of course there is no way to know in advance how many appointments or when they will be.

But there is a Facebook group Meet in Q who plan to do a few more carpools to Los Algodones. So maybe that would work out for you.

Time to lower the popup, it is going to be cold toonight. I had more orders come in and ran out of two different kis so I have to work this evening. I have a new book on tape to keep me cvompany while i work.

But first I am going to turn on my diesel stove/heater and make some pancakes and hot chocolate. That is my desert. I had stopped at sparky camp this afternoon and got to enjoy their leftover solar coked pork steak stew for my dinner.

It was a peaceful day... but still no hot water or refrigeration in this trailer... and now I think I've run out of propane for the furnace. Electric heater is working fine though. It rained much of the day and at one point I saw big snowflakes coming down, but that didn't stick. Tomorrow I'll call the tribe to see what I should do to get their maintenance man to come look at my trailer problems. The furnace kept the place warm - until it didn't. There are two propane tanks. I wonder if I should do something to switch to the other one. I wonder if that tank was full... because if so it is distressing to think it only lasted a day, or a day and a half.

You can loosen the tank mount and lift the tank to see how full it is, or look for a condensation line. Often hardware stores have tank exchanges, but an actual propane fill station at a gas station is much cheaper. It costs me about $5 to fill a tank, they do everything for you there.

If you find out that you still have a full tank, you will just need to switch to the full tank.

Is the trailer a “four season trailer”? Keep the trailer above freezing. Get a heat tape and insulation on the inlet water line. If all else fails leave the faucets trickling. Running water is much harder to freeze. Drain your black and grey tanks if they are not insulated or heated if it will go below freezing. Leave them open and use the parks bathroom till you find out if they can freeze. You need to have someone that knows RVs to show you what you need to know. Is there anyone nearby you can get to show you? Escapees has a several day “boot camp” to educate new RVers. It is very irresponsible of the tribe and very possible to damage the RV systems in freezing weather to just move someone in with out showing people what they need to know. It ain’t a sticks and bricks house. Since you are plugged into the grid you should be able to switch the refrigerator to AC power (usually they would do it automatically if it is turned on with the switch on the refrigerator control panel at the top of the refrigerator)and the water heater may have a electric heating element as well but again it needs to be turned on. There are little rocker switches usually in the kitchen area to do so.

X2 on bullfrog's advice.

also on propane/electric water heaters, the electric side usually has 2 switches one inside on the control panel and one outside on the water heater itself. they both must be on. also the circuit breaker must be on too. make sure the water heater has water in it. it only takes a few seconds to burn out the electric element if the heater does not have water in it.

Dear nomad friends I have never been so sure of my decision to come to South Florida as I am this week. The north east including my home in Pennsylvania are looking forward to 6 to 10 inches of white stuff. I’m making a list of all the people I’m going to call and say Na na da na na to. I know it’s mean and dirty but others have done it to me and that’s one of the major reasons I’m here. Snow and ice what are they? God bless the nomads especially the cold ones.

I'm feeling blessed. My hot water works now! Fridge couldn't get fixed but I put my van fridge in the trailer so I can keep things cold that way. Furnace works... I got some training on how to refill the propane tanks. I feel a lot better about trailer life now. Thanks to everyone for water heater advice. I shared with my repairman. Aside from that, didn't do much today. Sure is nice to be able to sit here using my computer rather than just the phone.

I t was a brisk and somewhat chilly but mostly sunny day. Did my trip to Lake Havasu City today. Feels like a long drive. I did not get on the road early enough to do much exploration in the town oor do a walk along the lake. But the drive through the hilly terrain between Parker AZ and Lake Havasu was very enjoyable.

Your long drive from Parker to Lake Havasu City... I had to look that up on the map. Google says it is 38.5 miles. That's less than what I have to drive to get to Highway 5... our long driveway from Happy Camp to the rest of the world is 64.6 miles, then we get the choice of going north 41 miles toward Medford or south 10 miles to Yreka. Medford has better shopping opportunities. Yreka, population about 7000, is the largest town in our county. Despite the long drive, we Happy Campers do this frequently and don't really think much of it. It comes with the territory for people who love living in a very remote mountain town separated from most of the rest of civilization.

Some have said our town seems like it is 30 years behind the times. I used to be amused watching visitors with their great consternation at trying to use their cell phones out here. Of course, this was 20 years ago and I'd never had one back then. Eventually we got a cell phone tower but it is only for Verizon, thus I have no desire to change from my expensive Verizon unlimited plan. I got that intentionally with the expectation of coming back to this area.

Where are you now Maki? Havasu doesn’t seem like the way to Algodones. Be careful.

My long drive was frrom La Posa South LTVA to the north end of Lake Havasu City. The total drive is close to 80 miles distance. Parker is a town north  of Quartzsite on the way to Lake Havasu City.

I am still in the same spot at La Posa South . It takes too much time and effort to break camp and relocate. I have decided will be enough this month.  It takes at least a day to get everything packed up and about the same to set  up at a new camp.. it will be more like a half day once I am done with my build. But for now I am dealing with tools and materials as well as the rest of my everyday gear.

A  I would like to move to a quiter area as t here are a lot of generators running around this area. But I dont want to lose two days time justbwkth packing and unpavking for that annoyance.  So for now if it gets to me I turn on some music or an audio book. Of course sometimes I am making noise when running my cutting machine but my neighbors can't hear that, it only annoys me.

As I was just taking off my T-shirt I ripped a 3 inch hole in it considering that there are six other holes in it I threw it in the trashcan. I am such a hoarder that I can’t throw things away even a holy T-shirt. But now living in a van I can’t keep things around anymore. I think the toughest thing about living in a vehicle full-time is all the stuff I had to get rid of. And the hardest thing about getting rid of things is those things your treasured you find out are worth squat to others. I’m not implying that anybody would want my old T-shirt but there were a lot of things I cherished and When I tried to give them away there wasn’t much enthusiasm on the other side. I think this is an important life lesson but it ain’t easy to learn. God bless every nomad where ever they are. (especially the ones in South Florida);)

PS - if I was still in the sticks and bricks that T-shirt would’ve gone in a rag box in my garage until three years from now when I found out the mice were building a nest in that box and even then I would have to go through the box and save part of the stuff. Oh crap. I just remembered I have some staining to do with my wood work in here and I better keep that old T-shirt at least till that projects done. You never win do you?

It is our upbringing that does us in.
My mother used to cut old bed sheets and hem the good parts,  to make kitchen towels.
Old t-shirts were put in a basket for window cleaning. Old bath towels became mops.
Any clothes that were to be discarded, were stripped of zippers and buttons, hooks and snaps to be reused, or to replace buttons that fell off, etc.
Big aluminum pots were  reused to plant flowers. And the same for paint buckets. An old woodden ladder we had, ended up trellis for 2 grape vines.
Glass jars reused for jams and marmalades. Fabric from clothes would become decorative pillows, and so on...
If I try to remember what we discarded outright, I come up with nothing but real garbage...
Now, I have to fight with myself to throw out the wires of any electric thing I have to get rid of, or switches and stuff.
I am scarred for life :-/
